Lindy's Restaurant located at the apex of the corner of 5th Street and Central Street, with the front entrance facing diagonally outward towards Central, has some very worthwhile and delicious food!! Open late, late on weekends, for those downtown merry-makers, Lindy's "take-out" food will 'hit the spot' for anyone around!!

For Thanksgiving, Lindy's showcased their genuine roots by giving away for free, a large Thanksgiving plate to any person who came inside and wanted or needed a dinner plate!! And let me tell you, it was absolutely scrumptious!!! Moist, tasty, and included ham and turkey, so juicy and tender, and melted right in your mouth!! Everything from the Sweet Potatoes/Yams to the soft, but not mushy stuffing, was on par with the best dinning out there... Impressive!!

The atmosphere at Lindy's wasn't the reason for going there, so don't mind the attempt at the 1950's-esque environment. The long fronted bar seating seemed to have some vibrancy left, and if sitting down, would dine right there!! Otherwise, it's a tad drab and a tittle dull. The people and cooks are friendly, helpful and do their jobs, and do them well. No complaints there. All in all a ten out of ten!!! Go eat there and see for...

The food is okay. My family liked it but I was “meh” about it. The service is terrible. As soon as you walk in, nobody says hello like normal service etiquette. The lady “owner” or whatever just said “you can sit wherever”. I think there was another young man working there, but I wasn’t sure because he wasn’t in uniform but almost came to our table when we asked for the waiter. The meat on my burger felt overcooked. I asked for extra fries because there was barely any fries on my plate. The lady server acted so rude, like requesting something from her was such an inconvenience. Two guys also came in, mind you the whole entire restaurant was empty. The servers were so sweet to the guys and had full on conversations with them. Also, there was a small bug in my lettuce. The lady server said that it must’ve flown in there but the bug didn’t have any wings, so it either dropped down from the ceiling or it came from the kitchen. My friend asked for another burger because she felt like she ate more bugs that she didn’t see. And you know what the lady said? “Well you already asked for extra fries I can’t just give you more food”. Excuse me?? Are you paying for this terrible food....

I've just given up with this place, tired of wasting my money here and dealing with the bouts of food poisoning. It wasn't bad when we first moved to town early summer '16, but it's like the owners care less and less each day of making it a respectable business. Everytime I go in, the restaurant is more and more filthy, I honestly wonder how they pass health inspections. Used to enjoy the burger, until on two separate occasions, one after the other, the burgers gave me and my husband severe food poisoning that took us a week to get over. Didn't go near them again for a couple of months, until I was craving a box of fries one day. How much of a gamble could a box of fries be, right? Picked up a single box of fries, get back to my apartment, while me and my friend are chowing down, we both pulled out multiple fries thick with human hair. One was short and curly, like it came from someones nether regions, the others were short, straight brown hairs like head or beard hair. Revulsion made us both throw the fries down and toss the box in the garbage. Won't ever be back, the owners clearly just don't...

On our recent trip to Albuquerque we were delighted to find that Lindy’s was open. I first ate here on my first visit to the USA almost 45 years ago. Lindy's Diner sits on the corner of Historic Route 66 (Central Avenue) and Fifth Street in Downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. Lindy’s began its life as Coney Island Cafe in 1929, making it one of the oldest continually operating restaurants on Route 66. In 1960 it was renamed Lindy’s Diner, but the classic dishes and vintage atmosphere lived an authentic vintage Route 66 experience! Nobody was in but the food was excellent. Carol had avocado toast and I had Mexican scrambled eggs with hash browns and beans. Had a good chat with the owners. They chatted for a while and explained how difficult it was since COVID with nobody working downtown. What a lovely couple.

What a cute little place. My server Dawn was so sweet. I sat at the counter since I was on my own, and she was fabulous. I had a quesadilla with no eggs, a chile, the best hash browns I've ever had, and got a friend food to go. Yummmmy! The chili was grilled and wonderful. He enjoyed his food, also. Standard scrambled eggs, toast, and sausage. I picked sausage for him, thanks to Dawn, and they were links, and they're big links, and he loved them. 😍 Thanks for that. It also included hash browns. She made sure to put in jelly, mayo, and cutlery. I would absolutely come back to this place.

Lindy’s is one of the oldest diners in Albuquerque, with a charm all its own. Nestled in the heart of downtown, it’s a convenient spot to draw in a crowd. However, the interior falls far short, and any sense of diner nostalgia quickly fades. I’m unsure about the diner’s current status, as I’ve heard rumors of it closing on two separate occasions. It feels like a missed opportunity for a classic, chic downtown diner. From what I’ve heard, Lindy’s used to have that vibe. Perhaps the next owner will invest the money to bring it back to its former glory.
