Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Albuquerque

Been going here for years with friends and family. Today is the last time. This place always has had issues with less than friendly staff, that tends to happen with teenagers at entry level service jobs.

One particular staff member was very rude to a friend and I this weekend. Unfriendly, poor attitude, showing zero emotion towards people and giving scowling looks. She messed up drink orders for 3 customers and was very rude and would roll her eyes and give bad looks to the other girl working that told her to correct the drinks and use ice. She made smoothies with water only and no ice, I guess she felt this was enough effort to do a good job.

I went in today and the same employee was there at the register and with the same attitude she gave to my friend and other customers this weekend. I thought ok great, well I was polite and friendly regardless of the previous experience.

I gave her my order, she would look off in other directions; roll her eyes and mumble when talking. So friendly…. What’s worse is the manager was right there and did nothing to correct this employee. I was waiting near the register for the rest of my food order. This employee finishes making my drink, gives me a dirty look, and proceeds to walk to the far end of the counter and tells me to pick it up there. I don’t know what her problem is with people but with that attitude she will have a life time of places like McDonald’s to look forward too. I made a comment to the manager about her attitude and that she treated my friend and other customers the same way this weekend. I’m sure it fell on deaf ears though. Needless to say, my family and I who would visit once a week or more...

I should have looked at the reviews before coming to this place. I never write reviews on anything, but the customer service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. I went last night, 1/26/23 at 7pm. As I walked in all six of the girls working, were sitting on a table on their phone and so I thought they might be closed. I went up to the counter and they asked me what I wanted, and I asked for them to give me a couple minutes, and the nasty attitude began there. I didn’t think much of it so I chose what I wanted and let them know I was ready. The girl asked me what the name on the order was and how she held in her laugh. Again, I didn’t care much to do anything about it. I just wanted to get out of there because I was tired and wanted to go home. Then I was given the wrong smoothie and when I told them that it was the wrong one, they tried arguing with me about what I ordered. I know exactly what I ordered and it wasn’t the smoothie that they gave me. After a bit of back-and-forth, they finally remade it. The girl that made my smoothie and argued with me was on her phone while arguing with me!! But they kept looking at each other and holding in their laugh. It was just overall uncomfortable to be in there and their attitude is beyond catty and just stupid mean girl vibe. I don’t know if they think that attitude makes them look cool?? It just makes them look childish. I could tell there was no manager there and I hope that the manager sees this and addresses their employees accordingly, because it is so unpleasant to...

I would give 0 stars if I could. I understand most teenagers work in this position and they are going to mess around more than adults. It is also not a super serious job but a lot of it is quite unnecessary. I went in and got two smoothies. They definitely used the same smoothie container for each because the taste of ginger from the island detox was tasted in the Bahama mama which is supposed to be a sweet smoothie. I went up to order and the young girl said hi welcome and I said one moment please and she rolled her eyes and went to go talk to people behind the counter. She came back and was eating behind the counter which is whatever but yelled who wants a taco! Then we sat down to enjoy and one of the ladies came into work late, there were people ordering and in line and she decided to lock the store door to lock out the coworker who was late? Like 4 teenagers just goofing around when people are waiting for their food. Then one of the young men just kept overflowing the smoothie cups and forced the lid on. It was dripping all over but never wiped it down. This place is really good and I have been coming here for 6 years on the regular but the customer service continues to get worse and worse. Please hire mature teenagers because this is just ridiculous. This is the last time I will come back and I am sure those workers do not care at all but they need lessons in customer service and maturity because that is not appropriate when they look for jobs...
