Buona — Restaurant in Algonquin

If I could give 0 stars, I would!! We ordered a beef sandwich with cheese and giardinera, buffalo chicken sandwich and a large fry with cheese! I odered in the app and arrived early for pickup. We went thru the drive thru and was told to park. We waited for 20 minutes and saw two sets of people come in and leave. I looked inside the restaurant and there was maybe 4 customers inside and about 5 employees standing in a group laughing and talking. I called and a girl answered and she would check on our food. We drove around to the drive, thru, AGAIN and the girl said she was sorry that she had to finish our order up. We started driving away and she offered a free dessert or drink but we were already pulling away and was awkward! We munched on the fries on our way home which were barely warm!! We got home to find out we received bread with cheese and giardinera, NO BEEF! I thought it was a joke!! How is this even possible? I called and spoke with Stella, a manager. She offered us to come back, which is 15 minutes away or credit the entire order on my account. I looked in the app this morning and am not seeing any type of credit! I DO NOT recommend this location to anyone!! It was my night off cooking and went to bed hungry!! EXTREMELY dissatisfied!! Also, the large fries was more the size of a small order of fries!

UPDATE! I was contacted by the GM and he sent me a generous gift card. We used the gift card and the food was wonderful and very tasty! We will be back! Thanks for making it...

I’ve always been a big fan of Italian Beef. More specifically, Buona is and will always be my spot for an Italian beef or sausage sandwich!

Their Italian beef is beyond flavorful and tender. Not full of fat and gristle like the competition. The turano bread holds up to the dipped Italian beef gravy.

My personal favorites are the classic Italian beef. Dipped. Hot Giardinera. Mozzarella Cheese. If I’m in the mood for a Sausage Sandwich I get that dipped, with hot giardinera, and mozzarella cheese.

I typically skip the sides, as that is really my only complaint. The side selection is terrible. I’m not a fan of their fries and they don’t have much else to offer. I’d also love to see an expansion on the dessert menu.

If you have a family to feed, you can now order the pre-cooked Italian beef and Italian sausage kits. It’s all hot and ready to assemble and serve. I’ve ordered those a few times and it’s always top notch.

My order is always accurate, made properly, & delivered piping hot. I’ve never had the issue of a soggy sandwich or anything like that. The hot giardinera is nice and spicy. If you want a little less heat but all the flavor, get the mild giardinera. The sweet peppers are also a solid pick.

I reached out to Buona directly and never got a response, which is why I’m writing this review. I placed a large order for delivery on 11/26 and the driver only delivered less than half our food. I called the restaurant expecting them to bring the rest of our food, but they told me they would need to contact doordash and get back to me. They didn’t get back to me so I called again and said we will just need to send someone to go get the food. Half the family ate while others waited for the rest of the food and then ate cold food for dinner! So even though we paid for delivery AND tipped the driver cash since it was kinda far out the way and there was no option to tip online, WE had to go get our food and the employee said we had to take this issue up with DoorDash! I didn’t even place the order through DoorDash, I ordered directly through Buona!! It’s not my fault they choose to use a terrible delivery service and don’t clearly mark bags for the drivers to make sure they deliver the entire order. I’m now having my bank fight with Buona to get my money back since they don’t want to take responsibility and provide good...
