Cinco de Mayo...You would think you would have enough staff to cover for a busy day since Chili's menu does have " Tex Mex Cuisine". Not the Algonquin location. We were able to grab a seat at the bar after waiting about 10mins and put our name on the waiting list to get a booth in dining area. Unfortunately, there was only 1 bartender and she was also taking orders and serving tables as well so the entire bar area where we sat was filled with other people's dirty leftover food and drinks and of course their mess. We waited 10 more mins for the bartender to finally come back to take our drink order. Other staff members in my opinion, could have cleaned off the bar while she was waiting on tables since they were just standing around. The greeter was able to grab us and let us know there were tables open (3-4 open booths open to be exact). We were the 1st to be seated. Our waiter (a young guy) took our drink orders. 10 minutes go by and he finally comes back to take our orders as the booths behind us filled up. The funny part is, the people that were seated after us got their drinks before us and their food before us (as the waiter never came back to take out order). When he did finally come back, we asked for a water as we were having chips n queso and the drinks we ordered were alcohol so we did prefer to have waters as well. The waiter never brought the water. 22 mins went by and we had to ask for a manager as the waiter was too busy tending to the booths behind us and completely forgot about us even though we were the 1st customers seated in that area. The manager comes out (Young woman) and she did not care what so ever what we had to say. All she had to say to us was (with an attitude), "can I get you anything else besides a water?" We said no, she grabbed us the water gave it to us and walked away. This was the worst experience we have ever had at this Chili's. I understand it was a Holiday, but you should have the proper staff on hand and to make sure all customers are tended to. The manager has no customer service skills, or people skills and seemed like she...
Read moreAs both the wife and I are into healthy eating, we recently decided to patronize Chilis to try their newly advertised grass fed hamburger. Since this was only a dollar more than Wednesday's advertised hamburger special, this appeared to be reasonably priced for a grass fed beef burger compared to the few restaurant establishments that offer grass fed beef hamburgers on their menu. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a very poor experience not to mention one of the worst hamburgers I have ever had in my entire life.
To begin, our waiter made it very clear when placing our order that the hamburgers could only be ordered medium (partially red) or well done. Both my wife and I opted for the former. When we received our order about twenty minutes later, both burgers were notably overcooked and tasted like shoe leather. Since both my wife and I were hungry, we attempted but were unable to eat the hamburgers. When the waiter asked what was wrong and if we wanted 'To Go' containers, we explained that the hamburgers were not prepared as ordered and were unedible. Our waiter in turn apologized and apparently informed the restaurant manager who also apologized but in doing so he also offered excuses stating how difficult it is to prepare/cook their burgers medium given their being too thin and having holes that allow for faster cooking. He also promised that they would do better the next time we visited the restaurant.
While I wasn't expecting a free meal, I was at least expecting an edible one in which case I felt the manager could have done better than make countless excuses. I happen to be in the service business for over 30 years and I can honestly say that customers/clients do not want to hear excuses when paying for a defective product or poor service. BTW, I can assure the restaurant manager that there will not be...
Read moreThis is for the Algonquin, IL location. Ordered 3 dinners through the website for pickup. It said in 20 min. Get there at the correct time, have to wait to pay for it. then told 5-10 min wait after its supposed to be ready. But ok. Waited a HALF hour after that only to be told that its because all orders came in at the same time. (there were only 3 people in front of me who had already been there waiting because they made a comment), and the manager was like 'oh well sorry'. What kind of customer service is that?? Have u never been through a dinner rush?? The to-go waitress had disappeared and no one would help the guys that had walked in and been standing there for 10 minutes. Ordered the food at 6:09 and did not walk out with it until 6:58. And no, the restaurant portion wasnt busy at all. According to the manager they weren't short staffed so I honestly dont know what the problem was. But the way he responded about us having to wait 50 minutes after ordering our food to receive it was no big deal and did absolutely nothing. He was not customer service friendly At All. I have worked in customer service for 15 years and am going into HR and if I ever found out an associate/manager of mine treated customers that way they would be repremanded and trained accordingly. That was completely...
