I was just here Last Saturday to have dinner, we are repeat customers and each time gets a little worse. So first off, when i was at the buffet trying to get some Madhed potato’s tray was empty, i asked the lady handling the cooking and switching trays. I asked her if there was any more potatoes and she pointed to the edge of the tray like scrap on the edge and I said there is nothing to scoop if could have some more potato’s, with a dirty look she switched out the tray. Than one reason we come back if the steak option, I was getting a price the lady was cutting it, and she was putting it on my plate and was literally falling off, it was hot of course wanted me to grab it even though it was hot and hanging over a hot grill. Than I was waiting on some hush puppies, the lady cooking was taking her lunch and was cooking her lunch and wasn’t anything off the buffet selection and had moved her hair behind her ear without gloves than touched the grill where her food is and touched it without washing hands or gloves that’s not sanitary at all. It’s an off-buffet item being mixed with the food they would usually serve, that’s. big problem especially with people like myself having allergy problems. Than while eating was on the left side in the mid section, they had usual music playing in the background, just trying to enjoy a good family meal and talk and eat, there was music blasting from the kitchen area where they cook steaks and serve food, was very loud, very over bearing when trying to listen and have a good family meal . I went up to the lady at the cash register, I asked her nicely if there was a way to turn. down the music a little bit because it’s disrupting and making it hard to hear with 2-sets of music overlapping and trying to talk, hard when your deaf in one ear She looked at me and nodded, and didn’t say anything. So i go to sit back down continue to to attempt to eat, my appetite was lowered when I saw the lady cook touch her hair and food on the grill. So maybe 10 minutes pass, i get back up and go to the same lady at the register, I asked her nicely again hey, what happened with turning the music down? yes was a bit more moody about it, I had explained to her that It was bothering me, Music was loud from the kitchen and trying to hear the normal background music usually plays and told her hey i’m deaf in my one ear and the having 2 different areas of sound where there bouncing off. each other. She said ok and just nodded. I walked away went back to our table. Lady bussing the table i told her to leave our stuff there, like our drinks water soda we were not done getting dessert. She said okay. Came back she was bussing our table out all our drink and water glasses in the plastic bin and asked her hey we told you we were not done, and yes i was a bit moodier just disappointing, i said that’s ok can you get us new drinks, she proceeded to take the drinks out of the bucket and i’m like? it had other peoples glasses liquids and food on the glasses. So at this point told me family to get ready to go, again went to front desk relayed all these concerns asked for a manager and she said she will see what she can do. So i tried calling Golden corral to talk to the manager on Sunday and yesterday they said they take down my number still have not called me back. There is Food health concerns with cooking and sanitation and no courtesy for customers and fact a lady busser tried to hand back glasses that had food and other liquids back to us, that is a huge sanitation concern, please manager tell me when your available to call me or tell me when your available each time no...
Read moreThis post is LONG OVERDUE, but I have to write it to explain how much ME & MY ENTIRE FAMILY APPRECIATE CARRIE, the manager at GC Algonquin, and how she took good care of us!....
So it was a Saturday afternoon, I came into the restaurant with my family. Just so happens it was close to the time of the shift from lunch to dinner, about 10 mins before. When I got in, I noticed that dinner didn't start until 10 mins later so we're getting lunch prices - YAYYYY! There was only one customer in front of us but it took FOREVER for the novice, high school cashier to ring them up. Finally, I got to the register and ready to pay for our meals, just knowing I'd pay for the lunch prices. The novice cashier says, "sorry you'll have to pay for the full dinner price", as he was about to change registers. Then the Latina wannabe manager, who wasn't any help AT ALL, basically echoed the same RUDENESS without a care, "he's right, nothing we can do about that. If you want lunch prices be here at lunchtime." Then she said, "we have to take care of other customers, so can you move over here?" - WHATTT??? By then, I'm beyond upset, I'm furious! It was at that time, the senior manager by the name of Carrie (because I asked her name) had come out to change a register out. At this point, I was asking for the DISTRICT MANAGER'S contact info. The rude, Latina wannabe gladly gave it to me with no hesitation of wanting to hear my case and make things right. That's when Carrie, THE EPITOME OF A REAL MANAGER, got involved and took care of the situation. We came to an agreement and the problem was solved!! Carrie treated me and my family with respect. She wasn't trying to get rid of us as if we were her headache. She took the the time to see to it that any issues got resolved, and even followed up with us at our table! THANK YOU SO MUCH CARRIE for making what would've been THEEE MOST TERRIBLE dining experience ever for me & my family A BLESSING IN DISGUISE!
Also TO THE DISTRICT MANAGER "RAY": I lost your phone number after that evening, but I REALLY WANT YOU TO KNOW that Carrie was VERY HELPFUL, FRIENDLY, AND CALM. Her EXPERIENCE & ATTENTIVENESS was undeniable, showing us TRULY WHAT A REAL MANAGER IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK LIKE! You should...
Read moreBeen here before and know exactly what to expect; passable food made with too much sugar/salt/fat, "servers" who's attitude can range from mildly enthusiastic to obviously disinterested, fellow diners who engage in vapid, sometimes absurd conversations, possibly a child or two who will be too loud/disobedient/running around while their parents endulge themselves in the afore mentioned conversations, etc. This time I was fortunate enough to experience this restaurants response to the POS system (computer-based register) acting up. I have worked for far smaller foodservice operations that had some kind of manual contingency plan for hiccups like this. Unfortunately, they chose to focus on the problem and not their guests. As the line before the register grew grew longer, no one came forth to apologize and explain what was happening. Then when they finally got some kind of plan together it was to yell to guests down the line for their drink preference, hand out trays with water still on them from the dishwasher and have the cashier take your order on the affected computer's side, then turn to the opposite register to ring it up and then return to you with your reciept (the other register's line was not being used and it would have made obvious sense to have guests go there instead). All in all, a stellar performance Golden Corral. Bravo on once again making my visit one to remember.
OK, tried coming back here after a while to see if. . . MAYBE it got any better. Nope. Well, the personnel are a bit friendlier, I'll give 'em that. I've actually been trying to come back over the last month or two and, unfortunately, the food hasn't gotten any better. It's been a pretty constant 50% when it comes to the buffet items being 1) fresh/rotated, 2) having an appealing flavor, +/or 3) just being even WARM. Now mind you, thus is the prepared items, the bakery & pre-made items are fine. C'mon, GC, step up your game. It's not worth getting someone sick or closing down because of lack of...
