We were fortunate to get invited to the ‘soft opening’ of Armor Brewing this weekend. We were super excited to check it out as we were able to try the tasting a few months ago.
I loved what they did with the space. We used to go to the previous brewery before it was shut down several years go. They have gone above and beyond in comparisons to how it was previously. I love how kid friendly it was. My wife and I were able to enjoy a beer while she got to run around with the myriads of other kiddos. They had a ton of fun toys to play with that eventually turned into objects to throw at each other. It was really fun.
They have a stage as well and we were told that they will have live shows on some weekends which is really cool.
Now to the fun part: the food and beer. We got the brunch burger and it came with potatoes. It was BEYOND delicious!!! We split the burger and we were both stuffed. We also tried the hush puppies, which had jalapeño’s in them. It was so great, my mouth is watering right now thinking of them. We also tried the apple fritters, they were good, but not cooked all way through so they were a bit doughy, which was a bit of a turn off for me as i am not a fan of that kinda texture. Totally understand that this is the reason for a soft opening, so it does not reflect bad at all as they are still perfecting the menu. But honestly that burger and hush puppies MORE than make up for it, so good! As an FYI the entree’s are about $18 a pop.
BEER TIME!! It was delicious. Loved the Blood Orange Sip and the Ariete beer’s. They are so great! We tried a few others in the tasting, but these are our favorite ones of the batch. These were our fav ones during the tasting, but we did try the others when he sampled them a few months ago. We can’t wait to try the entire menu after it opens up.
The service was awesome as well. Mike even came up and talked with everyone there to get their opinions. Which was nice and made everyone feel comfortable while we were there. Inside there was also two dart ‘lanes’ you could rent out, whcih is pretty awesome and fun.
Overall we really did enjoy Armor Brewing and can’t wait for it to open, as we can see ourselves up there a lot, esp since they are kid friendly. It was well...
Read moreWe’ve been twice in the last week. I never saw the old brewery but the atmosphere of this place is on point. The wait staff has been good as well. I know it’s a new place so definitely forgiving on a couple things as it’s new and popular. We went today at lunch and were told the wait was an hr and a half. We saw about 9 empty tables inside and it was only 2 of us. We left because we had to take our son to work at the time they said the table would be available. Outside was packed so we figured they just didn’t have the staff to seat us. We went back after taking our son to work and was still told an hr and a half. We said ok and went to grab a drink. We saw 2 seats available at the bar, so I asked the hostess if we could order food at the bar and she apologized and said no. We sat anyways and ordered a drink. The bartender handed us a full menu and we asked if we could order food at the bar, and he said of course. We were slightly confused but excited cause we were starving. Ordered a drink and the edamame as an appetizer, GET THE EDAMAME!! We’ve had it twice and it’s AMAZING ( it’s the reason we went back today) after 5 min at the bar we got a text our table was ready… again we were very confused as we were told it was a 90 min wait. We went to the hostess stand and were seated. My only complaints are the salads. Last week my moms salad was missing ingredients ( no big deal we asked for the goat cheese and she added it to her salad) today I ordered the Napa salad. For the $15 price tag I wish my bowl wasn’t just the core of the Napa cabbage. The flavor of the dressing and toppings were amazing, but it was mostly huge chunks of the core of the Napa cabbage which is extremely bitter. It was also missing the grated yolk on top but I was so hungry I didn’t care and picked around the huge slices of core. My husband’s Korean chicken sandwich was delicious. We’ve also had the burger which was delicious. Also highly recommend the espresso martini! The drinks are really good. The outside atmosphere is great in my opinion. I’m a mother so I don’t mind the kids running around. I do think for what you get in the salad without protein the $15 prices are...
Read moreVisited for the first time since it had been Nine Band. I wasn't able to try the beer but my husband who is a homebrewer felt it was average. Most of it was good but had some inconsistencies with beer style. Most glaringly the Belgian Trippel which was very sweet rather than dry. Everyone who tried it loved the smoked porter. The best food of the night was our appetizer - the Milwaukee pretzel. The jalapeño mustard tasted more like pickles than jalapeño though. My dad got the Reuben sandwich which was also really good. Several of us ordered the fish and chips which was a disappointment to anyone who's had a fish fry in Wisconsin or Alaska. They tasted frozen and were quite small pieces of fish for $18 a plate. The fries were tasty but not the crispy texture you want from a fish and chips plate. The hush puppies were tasty although this Texan could've done with more jalapeños. The plate did not come with malt vinegar as listed on the menu. The kids plates were great portion sizes. The cavatappi and cheese was tasty if a little grainy. Our server was very friendly and helpful even with a full crowd. However the knowledge of the menu was still not complete as they've only been open three weeks. We asked about mocktails for me and he said he could ask but forgot to mention the alcohol free beers we found too late on the menu. He was also not ready to offer beer pairings with our meal when we asked. Again, he was very attentive just not fully informed about the menu. We LOVED the use of the outdoor space. Everything was very clean and modern looking, and the kids had a great time running around. It was a great night to sit outside, and we were not at all...
