This review is of Pei Wei in general and not necessarily this location only. I just want everyone to know that Pei Wei is not the restaurant we once knew. Gone are the Freestyle Coke machines, lemon and mandarin orange slices, real plates and utensils. They now have us eating out of plastic bowls and using plastic utensils. The food prices remain the same but the amount of protein has shrunk. What I got on my last visit was a big bowl of clumpy low quality rice. Probably long grain rather than jasmine or basmati with a few morsels of chicken. I had the Thai coconut chicken with much too little sauce to give the mountain of rice any flavor. Huge disappointment. Pei Wei used to pack the place but now it was a grave yard. I went to the Winter Garden location a few weeks ago and it too was dead. My mother who is not local to any Pei Wei remembers it fondly so we went when she was last in town and she later told me that it was not as good as she remembered it. On these last visits it was like eating at a Costco snack bar without the crowds. And if I wanted plastic everything, I can get that at Panda Express for a lot less money. Sure Panda does not, as a matter of course make our food to order, but that is a service available upon request. The food is still delivered to the table fresh at Pei Wei but that's about all the service Pei Wei still offers. Pei Wei is operating as if it is on it's way out and I think the time is now to start searching for something similar to what Pei...
Read moreI have been going to this Pei Wei for years and it seems like it just got really bad lately. I had to wait about 15 mins on the phone and I decided to drive there. The host took my order and the wmployee ( the big African American girl) in the kitchen made it wrong. I went back to have them remake it. She took the food out the back and brought it to me. I was sitting there the whole time and did not see them remake it. Also, the manager, Rick, was in the kitchen the whole time did not even care to ask why I brought the food back. The girl in front was polite and trued her best but the big girl in the kitchen said to the guy making the food:" I just have to smile and ignore stupid customers". Thinking that I left. When she saw that I saw and heard her she smiled. I asked to talk to the manager and he came, with a careless look, "Hurry up I have better things to do". I still love Pei Wei because the food is amazing but customer service like this is unacceptable when the food is not cheap and we work hard for our money. Needless to say that I am no longer going there and I had to put my food in the trash because I didn't trust them with it and did not want to go back there to get a refund. This is not customers should be treated when the employees...
Read morePei Wei offers a solid, casual dining experience with a range of tasty, customizable Asian dishes. The menu is extensive, featuring everything from sushi and rice bowls to noodles and stir-fries. What stands out is the ability to adjust spice levels and ingredients based on personal preference, which is perfect for those with dietary restrictions or picky eaters.
The atmosphere is relaxed, but the ambiance can feel a little more fast-casual than cozy. Service is generally quick, and the food is prepared fresh, which is a huge plus. The flavors are usually well-balanced, though some dishes might be a bit on the salty side depending on what you order.
One of the standout items is the Mongolian Beef, which has a great mix of sweetness and savory flavors, and the Thai Coconut Curry is another crowd-pleaser, offering a rich, creamy taste without being too heavy.
Overall, Pei Wei delivers reliable, tasty Asian-inspired food without breaking the bank. It’s a great option for a quick, satisfying meal, though it may not have the same depth of flavor or authenticity as some higher-end Asian restaurants. If you’re looking for convenience with good-quality food, it’s definitely...
