I phoned in the afternoon of my check in to let them know I'll be checking in late. The girl on the phone said that it would be fine and someone would be there to check me in. I got there just before midnight and the front desk was empty and dark. I noticed a phone next to the inner door. It said to dial 0 for late check in.
I called and it seemed to direct me to the customer service center. Someone put me on hold and a few minutes later said that the "night attendant" would be with me shortly. I waited for 20 minutes. Nothing. I called back. Not sure if it was the same guy but I told him what happened. He put me on hold for a few minutes. Then he said he'll be "honest" and tell me that I'm in an unfortunate situation as he could not reach anyone at the hotel. He said he recommends that I go to another location to see if they have an available room. I asked if I would be getting a refund or a comped room. He said no because I booked through a third party and that I would have to pay again. What a load of !@#. This guy's name was Luis.
While I was figuring out what to do, a guest who was out for a smoke overhead and called their bluff. She said she late checked in all the time. And there's definitely someone working in the hotel even though it's past midnight (why wouldn't there be). And that's when I notice I think a cleaning lady at the front desk. I wave to her and she unlocks the inner door to let me in. I explain to her my situation and she apologizes and immediately checks me in. Wow! Thanks Luis! Her name was Ursula. She was very nice and helpful.
The room was very nice and clean. And the location was quiet. That's why this place gets two stars not one. Also asking for a refund due to my wasted time and bad service was a very complicated process that's still going on. I called the manager the next day, she said she can't do anything until the GENERAL manager gets in the next day. The next day I get a call from them saying I have to call the third party I booked the room through (Agoda). After calling Agoda, they told me they need to contact the hotel first. They said they attempted to but no one picked up and that they will email me soon. If they don't give me my money back I will contact my cc company to...
Read moreMy experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, the room floor was sticky, and there were roaches present. When I informed the front desk about the condition of the room, they assured me someone would come to clean it. Unfortunately, the cleaning staff only replaced the towels; the floors remained dirty, and dead roaches were still present.
I brought up the roach issue again, and shockingly, the staff informed me they had no way to eliminate the roaches and suggested I purchase my own roach spray if I intended to stay. Additionally, the hot water had foreign particles floating in it, making it unusable.
The tub/shower was rusty and continued to leak water even after turning it off. On the first night, the toilet appeared to have a broken wax ring as water seeped up through the tiles when stepping on the bathroom floor. Although this issue seemed to have been fixed later, the repair was inadequate, leaving water trapped beneath the tiles. I had to use towels to press down and remove the water repeatedly.
Due to a personal situation, I had no choice but to stay at this hotel. My intention to find peace turned into an extremely stressful experience. Now I face the additional worry that I may have inadvertently carried roaches back home, leading to the unexpected cost of cleaning my car to prevent infestation.
While I understand this wasn't a 3 or 4-star hotel based on the price, certain conditions are simply unacceptable. In Florida, hotels are legally required to maintain sanitary conditions and prevent pest infestations, including roaches.
The hotel's explanation that the roaches were due to long-term guests was unacceptable and reflects poorly on their standards. Additionally, the hallway carpets were visibly dirty, and the elevator corners were caked with grime.
This was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I strongly advise against staying here until significant improvements in cleanliness, pest control, and...
Read moreTo be fair, this is not a motel and it is also not a resort-style hotel. It’s a two-star budget-friendly extended stay in a nice part of town (Crane’s Roost Park, close to Costco, Target, restaurants, and freeway).
The rooms are dated and not upgraded, but they are clean. All appliances worked (slight issue with A/C), and the hotel was quiet.
I stayed for 40+ nights recently after moving to FL for a new job and going through home buying process. I felt safe, room was clean, and weekly rate couldn’t compete with a regular hotel or rental house during Spring Break.
That said, you do need to set your expectations within reason. The front desk staff is there to check you in, accept payment, file maintenance requests, and check you out.
They will not do more or less.
If staying a while, rooms are cleaned every 14 days, no sooner (even if you ask). If you need more towels, you have to bring the old ones down to exchange for new ones. Pots and pans? You have to check them out. Front doors are locked at sundown (your room key let’s you in whenever, but they do get de-magnetized easily).
If you’re booking for a vacation stay, this likely isn’t the place. But, if you’re staying a while, on a budget, and wanting a mini kitchen, this is an option.
A newer/nicer extended opened recently in Sanford. It has a higher daily/weekly rate, but the building/rooms are nicer.
Customer service could be a lot better and more convenient for the people staying there. And guests need to be respectful, kind, and courteous...
