We popped in on a Sunday afternoon with 7 people. We had to wait a few minutes-they were busy! There’s plenty of space to wait and also they have a bar right there. Our waitress was very busy but very nice. They gave us loads of chips and literal vats of salsa- so fresh and delicious! Nice giant cups for drinks and quick on the re-fills too. Nobody at our table had been to this location…The food was excellent. 3 of us ordered different enchilada plates and we all loved them. I had the mushroom and spinach enchiladas with salsa verde. The salsa had a nice kick! They weren’t drenched in sauce, so you could taste everything. I liked that they used corn tortillas. The one thing I noticed is that the mushrooms were barely cooked. They were still a bit crunchy and while it’s not a dealbreaker for me, I can see how other people might be put off by that. I’m guessing it was a case of them being rushed in the kitchen and it’s probably not always like that (guess I will have to come back to find out!) Even saying that, I still think these are the best veggie enchiladas in town! They have a big menu with pretty much anything you might desire. And also, if you’re a vegetarian, they usually have decent options here. Another person in our party got the grilled veggie platter which is a great option too! The prices were very good too! For two large entrees it was $25. I can’t remember the last time we got out of a restaurant with a ticket that cheap! Everyone was fat and happy when we left and agreed they...
Read moreFirst off, the food tasted great and the server was AMAZING! Problem is the management. We came in, sat, ordered drinks, and waited about 20 minutes to get our drinks, mostly water and tea with a few alcoholic ones. It wasn't busy. If anything it was very slow. About another 10 minutes passed before we finally had our food order taken. It quickly became clear that the problem was not our waitress, if anything she was the only good thing. She was the only person hustling and trying to get work done. She was the waitress, server, and bartender for about 5 tables. There was a bartender, but she was busy socializing to help make drinks, so our waitress had to do it. The bus boy sat at a table on his cell phone. The guy wearing a purple shirt (guessing purple means he's a supervisor or something other than just a worker) also sat at the same table with the bus boy. Never told him to put his cell phone away, or to check tables. We ordered our food and got it 30 minutes later. There were about 4 workers walking around that could have helped but didn't. Management was either unaware or not concerned about the lack of suervice and professionalism.
Again, the waitress was a rock star. The type of worker anyone would be happy to have as an employee and has definite management potential. She worked her butt off, hustled as best she could, and kept a positive and friendly attitude. Thank you Jocelyn, you made this...
Read moreI was a bit disappointed in our dinner here. Braceros on 6th is always a favorite. Downtown was a different experience altogether. First, when you walk in you'll notice 2 things: there is no hostess station, but there is a very distinct odor. No hostess station was a bit awkward as we weren't sure what to do. So we just stood there for a minute until the grumpy host came to seat us. He walked us to the table, tossed down the menus, and left without a word. Our waiter was pretty good, though. Very friendly. But we waited almost 30 minutes for our food while we watched the people who came in after is enjoy theirs. When we finally got our good, the waited had forgotten the sour cream. My husband asked for some, but then had to wait for quite some time before he got it. The food was good, but my enchiladas didn't have any sauce and I didn't want to wait, so I just put salsa on them. My food was also cold. I understand that restaurants have their off days, so we won't abandon a favorite for one bad experience, but will definitely go to 6th Ave location...
