I always love a downtown brewery. Of the more than 500 I have been to, from suburban to rural to inner-city, it is the ones in the Central Business District that I love the most, primarily because that is the heart and soul of any city. Six Car Pub & Brewery opened in May 2018, which seems like an eternity ago now, especially with a pandemic sandwiched in the last six years. They have endured their own struggles, but like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, they are rocking it these days. They’ve got the brewing aspect dialed in, and the menu has been tweaked such that it pleases the Amarillo palate. I found myself there recently before a baseball game, and ordered the Impossible Burger with most of the usual condimentary suspects between the buns. I have had many a veggie burger, but this one was prepared exceedingly well. I still remember my carnivorous years, and I’d put this one aside any beef burger. To wash down the burger and fries, I chose first an old favorite, Make Good Choices, an IPA, and then a Chill Sunset, a Juicy IPA. Both are very approachable IPAs clocking in at 6.5% ABV, just the right amount before it becomes alcohol-forward. Six Car offered seven house beers when I visited, along with a couple of macros and perhaps a half-dozen guest taps. The ambience of Six Car is hard to beat, especially with its second floor dining space and elevated patio. There’s also a huge biergarten where leashed dogs are welcome. My, how the trees have grown in the six years since they opened! It is delightful out there. As an aside, weekends finds Six Car offering their brunch menu, which is amazing. Been there, and done that, and will definitely do it again. This is a treasure for Amarillo, and for all the Route 66 visitors who come through town each year, only a few hundred feet off the Mother Road. You know what to do.

We stopped for a quick brunch while traveling cross country. The hostess was very rude. She told us we couldn’t have our dog inside unless he was a service animal, and we weren’t allowed to “walk thru the dining room” with him to get to the upstairs patio. That’s fine, we absolutely understand dogs aren’t allowed everywhere. We decided to eat there anyway and chose to sit outside on the patio. She proceeded to walk us thru the dining area - with our dog - to get to the outside patio. We asked why it was ok to walk thru the dining area with our dog when she told us it wasn’t, she then became very rude, walking away, throwing up her hands and muttering under her breath. Our server Corbin was wonderful and took great care of us outside on the patio. The food was great, our experience was just dampened by the hostess and her bad attitude. Your hostess is the front of the house and should represent your establishment.

We were staying at the Barfield Hotel, and so when we asked a local where a good place to eat was...they simply turned and pointed across the street and said, "right there y'all". So we all turned and "moseyed" right across that brick street. So glad we did, cus this place is legit. First off, it's a brewery, and lots of great local choices of brew to choose from. Loved the interior design. An industrial vibe with very high ceilings, lots of windows, small but cool bar, an upstairs area, cool tunes floating down from above, and plenty of patio tables too. Our server was quite friendly, very attentive and smiled often! Check out that menu...yeah, I thought so. Damn good looking right? All 4 of us loved our food choices, along with the beers and pita chips with hummus dip. Real nice place with very tasty food. We enjoyed ourselves here.

I really wanted to like this place. It has everything going for it. Location, rooftop, beer and vegetarian options, Unfortunately my experience was anything just. I would only attend if you have copious amount of time, patience, understanding. The waitstaff is in a world of their own. To start off, it took twenty minutes, no joke, twenty minutes to even be recognized by the staff as a customer. Even though I engaged them twice and asked for a menu during my brief stay outside on patio. Once finally being recognized, I gave a very clear order of what I wanted, because I figured I wouldn't be visited again. Wings, impossible burger everything on it, and beer. They got the wings and beer part right. Some how my burger got translated to grilled cheese with mushrooms and onions. Once they corrected it, the grilled cheese to a burger, they messed up my side. By that point I was beyond annoyed. They comped my frustrations with lukewarm beer and messed up first order. It was a ok but stop messing up. As someone who has and still works in service, I have some of the highest understanding standards when people are slammed. They were not. With three people tending and serving, the 16-20 people hanging out should be a breeze. In closing, its a cool location and thats about it. It serves piss warm mediocre beer with insanely slow mediocre food. If you plan of going be sure to plan a minimum of two hours, you won't be recognized for...

My spouse and I stopped by this afternoon for a light bite to eat. We usually split an entree and both have side salads. First let me say I have NEVER had a better salad in my life. Yes, a salad. You’d think a typical run of the mill side salad. This my friends was not anywhere close to run of the mill...this was insane, from the house made spicy pickles and pickled onions, to the heirloom tomatoes, spiralized carrots, radishes and homemade garlic croutons with just the perfect amount of house dressing as well as another vinaigrette I can’t place but I seriously had to stop myself from licking the plate. I wanted to cancel our burger and just have another round of salad. And yes, I know how ludicrous this sounds but it was absolutely amazing!!! Now that I’ve ranted about the salad let me tell you about the burger I didn’t cancel. We got the standard burger...but standard it was not. Again, another home run!! Was not overly seasoned, the perfect amount where you can still taste the beef, perfect char...and they topped it with those house pickles. To. Die. For. I really didn’t wanna share with the hubs! Atmosphere was fantastic as well. It’s definitely a place to chill and kick back. I didn’t feel rushed whatsoever. We cannot wait...
