Great place with awesome food! This is the original, where it all started. If you're like me, you can't really tell the difference between burgers at the higher end burger places. Here, the burgers are char-broiled instead of grilled (cooked over open flame instead of on a hot surface). They do add loads of toppings though! Lettuce is shredded and falls out all over the place. Abundance of things like tomatoes, onions and pickles, if you're into those. Good sauce too!
There are also other sandwiches and dishes on the menu as well. You're always given A LOT of food. If you get something like a chicken platter, you get chicken strips on top of an entire dish of fries. Both are really good. The fries are steak fry style, so they're not small. The fry sauce is awesome! If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to try some. They also have things like grilled cheese for the littler ones, or you if you're into that. They're big (cut in half and still the size of a normal sandwich big). Lots of drink variety too. Should be something for everyone. Don't expect a lot of vegetarian/vegan options. They are a burger joint and it shows.
Which brings me to the shakes. Oh the shakes... They're huge. Massive. You order a mini and it's an entire meal massive. The small is big enough for two to be satisfied. They have to put it into an extra large cup to hold it because the normal cup won't. Don't order the large unless you have a small family to feed. Or you just really, really, REALLY like ice cream and shakes.
And then there's the flavor options. If you can dream it, they can put it in. Regular vanilla? Ok. Strawberry cheesecake? Sure. Mint brownie? Just fine. Peanut butter Snickers mixed in with almonds and pumpkin? You'll be looked at really strange, but that's what they'll make for you. Just because it's not listed on their board as a flavor doesn't mean it can't be made. As long as they have the ingredients, they'll mix it for you. Expect to spend $7-10+ per person for a full meal. No value menus and I wouldn't expect any. You get what you pay for here and you get a lot. Very well worth it.
The place is a little older, so it's not as big or open as their newer restaurants. The interior looks aged, which is to be expected. The establishment has been around a long time. But they keep it clean and running well and it shows. It can get crowded at times during lunch or dinner because this place is really popular locally. There's not a lot of room in the drive through, something that was corrected in their other locations. But the method they use keeps people moving and is usually pretty good. For what it takes to make the food there, it's pretty quick and you won't spend a lot of time waiting. In all, it's very...
Read moreThis was my first time here and it will also be my last. Experience here was awful. If I could give zero stars, I would. When I arrived. there were 2 cars in front of me. There was a girl out taking everyone's orders so I thought the line would be going pretty quickly. I WAS WRONG!! I ordered and then waited in line for 30 minutes-in the drive thru! I was thinking that maybe they were taking so long because they were making everything to order, so maybe the delicious food would be their saving grace. After all there were only 2 cars in front of me. I finally got my order and they had messed it up. I brought it to her attention and she acted like it was my fault. I just said nevermind, I have to get back to work-I didn't have time to argue. I was on my 30 minute lunch break and had already spent more than my entire break in the drive thru. So I just took what they gave me and went back to work. I opened up my bag and found they had sent my fries with out any fry sauce or ranch which I had asked for both. It also did not have a fork in the bag so I had to use a spoon, which makes eating chili cheese fries pretty difficult. But I was still hoping that the food was so great that all the trouble would be worth it. Then I tried the fries, and oh my heck.....absolutely horrible. I don't say that lightly. I am not a picky eater. But these were awful. The fries were soggy on the outside, like they were old and just warmed up in the microwave. The middle of the fries were hard and undercooked and the ends that were sticking up out of the chili were burnt. The chili was terrible as well. Between the fries and the chili they both were so salty, I couldn't eat them. They were so bad, I threw them away. So disappointed and will not...
Read moreYou know when you're in the mood for a Flame Broiled Burger & you think about it all afternoon? Well, I had been looking forward to it, but was completely disappointed. My husband & I went through the AF drive-thru. I ordered a Hickory BBQ Bacon Burger NO MAYO!! They asked if it was due to an allergy, & I said Yes (they've NEVER asked me that before). I made a point of making sure she got it correct, she had. When I was given my order at the window, there was a separate bag with just a burger in it. So I figured they got it right, & proceeded to drive home to Cedar Hills. Upon opening my burger I found mayonnaise ALL OVER the top & bottom bun! I checked my receipt. Yes, there it was right on the receipt "NO MAYO!" Our family enjoys JCW's, but it's become a HUGE Joke every time we go... "Will they get Mom's burger right this time?" We've laughed about it through the last 20+ years, but it's REALLY frustrating to have your food messed up at least 75% of the time. When we dine in, I tell my family to go ahead & eat so their food is hot. Then they have to wait for me to finish when I finally get my burger. Once it took them 3 times before they got it right. This evening, I did call & spoke with a manager who offered to remake a new burger for me, (which is kind of silly considering it was late in the evening & I live in CH, I wasn't going to drive to all the way back down there) he also offered a gift card, which I do appreciate. BUT I went without my burger that night & that's my point. It's great that they want to make it up to you AFTER the fact, BUT it's really rotten to go without dinner because someone can't make a burger right in the...
