We love to try original restaruants in the area and we had seen this one on social media, so we decided to give it a try. The burgers listed were outside of the norm and we were excited to try something new. I was slightly surprised that our order wasn't ready when we arrived because it was after 5 and there were only 2 other people in the restaurant who were at the end of their meal. I was even more surprised to find out that we had just paid $13 and $17 for two burgers that didn't even come with fries. Luckily, we had ordered a side to try some of the other options or we would have been just eating a burger for dinner. Sadly, my brisket sandwich tasted like it was swimming in Manwich sauce. It literally tasted like a sloppy joe. When I order brisket, it is for the flavor of the meat, not the sauce. IMO it would be better to drizzle some sauce on the sandwich and allow people to add more if they wish. My dog loved it and would probably give it 5 stars. For the price of the side, I was surprised that there wasn't really much to it either. The cheese curds had great flavor. The ranch was extremely salty and the fry sauce was ok. This is a one and done for us. $39 for two burgers and 1 side is a little too pricey in this economy and not even a treat I would be willing to splurge on again. Had I been blown away, then maybe. In other reviews, I have seen the owner talking about the price being related to locally sourced ingredients, which I can appreciate, and excellent customer service. This is the part that throws me off. While the guy at the counter was nice, there isn't really any customer service to speak of. You order your food at the counter and you pick it up from the counter. You get and refill your own drink. The tables and chairs are basic- it doesn't scream $15ish burger with no side or drink to me. To the owner- I have seen your defensive comments to reviews and frankly, I'm not interested in your response, so don't bother. If you aren't willing to hear and value the opinions of those who are bringing in revenue, then you won't grow. I wish you the best, but I'll be surprised if you are still...

From the basic and honest images of their burgers adorning the walls, to the lively atmosphere and kind staff, I was thoroughly impressed with Root's Place.
For being as busy as they are the place is clean and tidy as it can be, the owner Danerish can be seen running to and fro handling customers, bringing out food, and just generally being helpful. There was plenty of time to look around, as was told to me at the counter: "We aren't fast food, we actually try to do it right."
And do it right they did, I am impressed.
I got the Farm Burger, and this burger is enormous to the point of ridiculous! A chicken tender as a topping on a burger is hilarious to me. And entirely worth the price, well seasoned and perfectly cooked burger and chicken led to a happy few minutes of eating. A couple sauces, bacon, lettuce, and onion rounded out the flavor profile, and it was overall cohesive! Most burgers that have this many proteins struggle with flavor identity, but in this case the sauce makes the whole time work together. Just make sure to use the dowel the burger comes with to keep it all together.
Also got the onion rings, and onion rings to me are a good indicator of whether a kitchen understands how to cook. Keep in mind, poorly cooked onion rings can be soft, flavorless, and oily... Spoiler alert, Root's Place didn't disappoint.
Crispy, well breaded, cooked to the point that they are just right, with a firm bite and a bit of onion texture. The breading is actually seasoned and super, super enjoyable. (not to mention of yummy RANCH that comes along with, also quite good however ask for more, the little cup isn't enough.)
This is a place I will definitely return to, I'm excited to try other options on the menu, the hangover breakfast burger looks interesting, as does the Diablo burger, I imagine when Im feeling up for something spicy!
Root's Place Team, you got my vote. Keep doing whatever it is you are doing, you've got a winner...
Read moreJust had lunch at Root’s Place in American Fork. I’m not really a huge burger fan, but occasionally I like a really good hamburger.
Orlando greeted us immediately and asked if it was our first time. He explained some things on the menu, and gave his recommendations. He truly cares about each customer, and every aspect of the restaurant. I assumed he was the owner, but, he told me he is just the manager. His philosophy is to treat everything he does as if he is the owner. You can tell how much pride he takes in his job, and it shows. Great guy!
I ordered the Toadstool Burger (7 oz patty cooked perfectly, soft sturdy & flaky bun, mushrooms, grilled onions, cheese, fry sauce, and I asked for no lettuce). I got it in a combo meal with garlic fries. Oh. My. Goodness! Let’s start with those fries. Nice crispy fries covered in soft caramelized chunks of garlic, and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. They are divine! If you are a garlic lover, this is the side dish for you! They paired perfectly with the messy, but oh so delicious, mushroom burger. It was a perfect pairing! When a mushroom would inevitably slide off the burger I would eat it with a chunk of soft, mellow garlic on a fry. Yummy!
My husband ordered the Classic Burger with their hand-made onion rings. OMG, those onion rings are so good! Lightly battered, not crumbed, sweet onion, lightly seasoned. I will say their ranch was a little too salty, and I like salt! Sorry, I forgot to take a pic of his meal. He said it was a super good burger - just the way he likes it. Nice thick patty, not overcooked.
Then there’s a bonus! They have your typical fountain drinks, but they have 12(!) different flavors of syrup you can add to your drink. Hello Blackberry Dr Pepper! That’s a really nice touch! They also have bottled and canned drinks, including beer.
I wasn’t super excited to go here for lunch because burgers are never my first choice. But, I will definitely be coming...
