I am not one to normally post negative reviews, even when I have a negative experience. But my experience at this location today was so troubling that I am going to post this, hopefully so that either something will change at this location or at the least, that other people will read and not waste their money, so go to a different location.
This is a long explanation but take time to read it all, because it explains why I felt belittled, as well as how absolutely stingy and rude management is at this location.
I enjoy subway because I like getting a sandwich the way I like it, especially getting a lot of pickles and peppers. I always order the same thing- 12" sweet onion chicken teriyaki on flatbread. Today at this American Fork subway location, I ordered the same thing. The gal making my sandwich got the flatbread, scooped two scoops of meat, and started putting the cheese on. A middle aged worker (I assume a shift lead or manager) came to the gal helping me and whispered something to her that I did not hear. The gal helping me then scraped half the meat off the sandwich. I said "is there a reason you are taking all that meat off?" The middle aged lady said "there is only supposed to be two scoops on a footlong". I replied "yes, she only scooped two scoops when she got the meat". The middle aged lady replied "well, a scoop is just supposed to be 7 pieces"... 7 pieces that are about 1/2" by 1"... every other subway I have ever been to scoops 2 scoops and does not count the pieces.
Then, after the sandwich is toasted, I ask for spinach, she puts 8 leaves of spinach on- quite a bit less than every other Subway does. I assume they are just a little stingy here and let it fly. I then ask for EXTRA pickles (that is my favorite part about Subway, to get tons of pickles). She grabs 8 pickle slices and puts them on. I responded "can I get more pickles please?" and she grabs 4 more pickle slices (for reference, every other subway when I ask for extra pickles ends up putting more than a large handful on, somewhere over 50 slices). So- I still feel like I do not have nearly enough pickles, but the middle aged lady comes and starts hovering over the girl helping me- making me feel like somehow I am doing something wrong for wanting the sandwich the way I want it, the way I get it every time that no one has ever complained or had problems with.
I then ask for banana peppers- she puts 5 slices on. I as for jalapenos- she puts 6 slices on. I add sauces, and it has been bothering me how few pickles are on the sandwich so I ask "can I get a few more pickles please?" The middle aged gal, who has been watching, huffed and sighed as if she cannot believe I am asking so much, she steps in and kind of pushes the gal helping me aside and grabs ONLY 3 more slices of pickles, and she THROWS them on the sandwich and steps away to let the gal helping me finish making the sandwich. Normally when I get this sandwich, it is so full that the workers have a hard time folding it over. But that is part of why I pick Subway, because I am allowed to have more pickles than I do meat. THIS time, my sandwich is LITERALLY half the thickness it normally is.
This location is so utterly stingy, it is appalling. If you are considering going to this location, drive an extra 10 minutes to go to a location that actually gives you the ingredients you want and does not huff and complain about what ingredients you want on your sandwich. The poor gal helping me did fine- I could tell management has told her to use as little ingredients as possible, so she was just doing what she was told. I will go out of my way by 20 minutes to go to a Subway that makes my food the way I like it without making me feel awful from now on.
I wasted my money today- and on top of that I was treated like I was committing a crime for wanting a sandwich the way I wanted it- the way every other Subway has made it for me without ever complaining or huffing. I have never had to have a manager step in TWICE to direct the employee to add less ingredients. GO TO A...
Read moreI went this Subway earlier today and ordered 3 foot long sandwiches to go in the drive-thru. The wait time was a bit longer than I am used to at most of the Subways, but it's totally acceptable with how incredible each of the sandwiches tasted. I got a sandwich for myself, my Mom and Dad. I brought the sandwiches home and was preparing a beverage while my Mom and Dad were eating and they were complimenting at how delicious and well made the sandwiches were. I was just making the drink thinking we'll see... Well, here I am and I just have to say this is by far the best Spicy Italian I have ever tasted from a Subway location! Each bite is an exquisite explosion of deliciousness. Huge props to this Subway in American Fork, they know what they're doing! I usually go to the north Orem on State St., if gas wasn't so dang expensive I would be willing to go to this subway everyday for their sandwiches, it's seriously that good! The waiting time may be a bit longer but it's so totally worth the wait!
P.S. The sandwich I had was as follows:
Sandwich Type: Spicy Italian Bread: Italian Herbs and Cheese - Foot-long Cheese: Pepper Jack Toasted, or not Toasted: Toasted Toppings: Lettuce, Tomatoes, Pickles, Olives Sauces and others: Chipotle Southwest, Vinegar, Salt & Pepper
Great Job Subway of American...
Read moreWell this was a first for Subway and we've been to a lot of different locations over the years. To start with the positive - the food was fresh & the store was clean. 👌 The not so positive... The atmosphere was tense and I'm assuming it was the manager who was creating that atmosphere. There were no smiles or friendly greetings. The person in front of us had to keep asking for more lettuce, more of everything because the employee was barely putting anything on the sandwiches. When it was our turn, my husband asked for a sandwich on the menu but wanted a different cheese & some additional veggies so the manager (once again assuming she was the manager or person in charge) said we need to charge you more. She told the person working the register (in Spanish) to charge $3 more. 🙄 Then I asked if I could have my footlong wrapped in separate paper (keep in mind it had the exact same ingredients on each side). The manager said, "So you want two six inches?" I asked if it would be more and she said yes so I kept it all in one wrapper. It was a very uncomfortable visit. You would think you could get an extra paper and switch out cheeses & vegetables at no extra cost or trouble but that was not the case today. We will continue visiting Subways, just not at...
