Cellar 626 — Restaurant in Ames

Really wanted this place to awesome and we were so excited to go here on date night. To preface we did go during spring break, so maybe their normal staff were out on vacation. The location is super cool with a very discrete access through a false cooler door. The actual speak easy is very nice and had good seating options. Unfortunately, that's when things went down... the lighting in there was surprisingly bright. There was no waiter/waitress, but the bartender didn't tell us that while we walked in. Eventually we walked up to the bar and ordered our drinks from the bartender. The drink prices were very fairly priced with a good selection. It took a VERY long time for the bartender to make our drinks despite the speak easy not being very busy. Once we got the drinks they were mediocre at best on not overly complicated cocktails. Hoping that this experience was a fluke due to Spring Break as really excited to see cool establishments...

This place has awesome cocktails. It’s a “hole in the wall” but not in a dive bar sense, as it has a high quality bar and furnishings. My only complaint is that they don’t clear the tables of previous guests very well, but it’s not a big enough deal to take away from the place. It’s a fun place to hang out and the drinks...

This is such a fun, hidden gem in Ames. The drinks were great and the staff were very kind. Even on a busy night, you don't have to wait that long for your drinks to be made since the bartender are exceptionally skilled and quick. Make sure to get there a bit early though on the weekend if you want a place to sit...
