In early December 2017 I put in a delivery order via Eatstreet from this place for one of their homemade entrée options, an appetizer or two, and like a plain kid’s burger. Shortly thereafter I received a phone call from a woman at Ama Bistro saying they were currently changing their menu and didn’t have the homemade option I ordered. I suggested a replacement and she said they didn’t have that either. I was totally polite and understanding, and said we should probably just cancel the order for now and give it another try next time. The woman, who I am now assuming is either an owner or management, then began suggesting other things for me to order instead. Not necessarily pushy, but it was off-color for sure. I again politely declined and said we should just cancel the order. She then told me she would cancel the order for me no problem, and thanked me.
A few days ago I was reviewing my credit card statement and the order was never cancelled. Like $40-50. I called Ama Bistro and a man on the phone said, “Oh we are not able to cancel or edit orders from Eatstreet.” I told him that was odd and not what I was told or familiar with. I called Eatstreet and explained the situation. Eatstreet said, “It is always the responsibility of the restaurant to cancel an order. This is very strange.” I use Eatstreet a lot and have had to cancel an order once before, and was already aware this was how it worked. Eatstreet was able to refund me, but this is a serious red flag about the business practices + ethics of this place....
Read moreMy trip to AmA's this morning truly broke my heart. I was in the neighborhood and I had a craving for AmA's stuffed french toast that is usually served with strawberries, cream, powdered sugar all beautifully prepared with four glorious dollops of whipped cream. Imagine my utter disgust when opening my to-go box 10 minutes away from the bistro to discover two pieces of eggy bread slathered with Nutella like some 3-year-old who went into the kitchen to make themselves a Nutella light-bread sandwich. I am heartbroken this morning folks! It's bad enough that the bistro has adopted a new ordering app which lacks detail of menu items so you have no idea what you are paying for. Imagine the level of control I had to possess to contain my fury after calling the restaurant to explain the dissatisfaction with my order and the phone attendant telling me that this is just the way the dish is made. Mind you now, I have eaten the same dish from this place four times. It's my whole reason for going there. This is the type of experience that makes you regret not just walking into the kitchen to place water and oatmeal in a bowl-no salt-no sugar-no butter and plop it in the microwave to eat it as is. I'm hurt this morning Ann Arbor. I'm not saying don't eat here but a word of advice from a dissatisfied customer--Ask questions while placing your order and do not leave until you see what is in your...
Read moreThe coffee creamer was expired (looked like an egg white floating), so I told the waiter and asked for another cup. She annoyingly plopped another coffee on the table and gave me THE SAME CREAMER. I put the creamer in my coffee- It was expired again. They agreed to take the coffee off of my bill. The overall meal was pretty good their eggs Benedict is light although the bread underneath it was really soggy. The major issue I have with this restaurant is the fact that they offer a side of tomatoes- as you can see in the photo below these tomatoes look like they came from Subway. Tomatoes should only be offered as a side and restaurant if they are grown locally and it is in season. These tomatoes were bland, hard, and looks like they were kept in the fridge for 3 months before they cut it. Not to mention- it's extremely thinly sliced tomatoes slapped on a plate? They didn't do anything to them, no olive oil or even a little salt- nothing. How is this a side??? I tried to put hot sauce on them with some seasoning but as I said before- they were hard tomatoes. Down right nasty. As a restaurant with THAT much business- you guys can afford good...
