It’s one of those reviews that should have been actually a 5 start, but due to poor choices on Valentine's Day 2025 it’s definitely a 3.
Pros: Food is actually good, no complains there aside from few suggestions that could have made it “great”. Atmosphere is very pleasant. Amazing decor, attention to details, fresh flowers and good live music. Joseph Pratt was absolutely amazing playing the guitar, which added ambiance and very tranquil vibe. Service was professional, but quite distant and… I don’t know… chilly?
Cons: My husband and I are big foodies, Im from Ukraine, so we were very excited to try out this restaurant with a very polish spin cuisine. The dinner menu was very promising and I was excited to try out a few things. Alas. For whatever unknown reason to me that I’m not able to comprehend Valentine’s Day grants a special 5 course menu, with fixed dishes, where some of the items, like appetisers and dessert are…shared? And all of that for 55$ per person. So if you don’t want soup or salad, tough luck … feel free not to order it, but still pay up 55$ (and of course that doesn’t include alcohol). I did some math and if we’d ordered the same items and shared them on a regular day, it would be 42$, per person. So another 13$ up charge, plus drinks, plus gratuity.
Oookay, 13 buck isn’t a deal breaker BUT.. it’s the lack of choice and flexibility for me.
I didn’t wanted the soup but since I’m paying 55$ I may as well try it. So I ordered Borshtch (beat soup), (duh). It was okay, no sour cream cream though? Cmon guys, beat soup with no sour cream, what’s up with that? Bread was cold, big no-no. Suggest slightly heating it up next time. No one enjoys eating cold bread. Appetisers: since those were shared we had to order something that I didn’t actually wanted because my husband can’t eat certain foods on the menu. We ordered Kolbasa, about 5 inches, with such a tiny amount of garnish (carrots, cabbage) that I thought the veggies are in high supply deficit. During a regular dinner we’d ordered two items, but with this menu - you can’t, share a small sausage, please. Salad: came with very little dressing, making it rather dry, no salt or pepper was offered. Dressing wasn’t too seasoned, so the salad was kinda blend.
Desert: was shared, very tasty but not enough for two people.
To summarise: what could have been a great gastronomical experience was kinda, well, not ruined, but very disappointing. The unexplained up charge, taking into consideration shared items were small, saving on garnish and dressing all of that was kinda ugh. And for what, Valentine’s Day -...
Read moreI've put off eating at Amadeus for years now, but I'm glad we went last night. It was an interesting meal with lots of fun tastes. Overall, though, I was not won over.
The menu had so much that looked good, but no one specific thing that called out to me. I ordered the vegetarian sampler, which for $17 gave me one potato schnitzel, one pierogi, and one salad (plus the usual side salad and bread that comes with an entree). The side salad with a subtle ranch was fine, and the bread was awesome--little fresh puffs, really. The sampler, itself, was okay. I LOVED the schnitzel, though in retrospect it was a bit greasy. It was about the size of flattened golf ball. The pierogi (farmer's cheese and potato) didn't taste like much of anything and was small (similar to the schnitzel). The salad came in a cream sauce, which surprised me (this was my mistake, based on how I'd misunderstood the menu); it had way too much sauce for my taste. I also got to taste some kielbasa and sauerkraut, and both seemed really nice. But as Annette J says, it all falls a little flat.
There were also little things that started to weigh on me. We sat in the window seat, which gave us a nice view of the street, but which was oddly over-air conditioned. The chairs were uncomfy (you either had to lean way back in the seat or keep yourself forward against the structure of the chair). The service took a LONG time; the waitress kept apologizing (which felt awkward), but I see from other Yelp reviews that the service is always slow. Finally, there were small mistakes here or there--the wrong beer brought to us, one beer with too little in it...
So I debate a 2 and 3. I decided to give a 3 because I feel like if I had ordered one of the two other meals I'd tasted, I would have liked the place more (my pierogi and warsaw salad just fell so very flat). I also walked out really happy with the experience, and it's only hitting me now--the next morning--that I wasn't that thrilled. So in the moment it was fine.
I can say that a big part of this newly settling disappointment is the price. My plate was a small portion of okay food, with mediocre service. And that cost me $17 before tax and tip, and with no drink or dessert. Had my dish been $12, I think I would have been quite pleased, and anything in between there would...
Read moreThis one’s been on the must try list for sometime and had high hopes. Unfortunately , it fell a little (b)flat, God forgive my Dad jokes?
A place with a solid reputation and quite a few accolades in the early 2010”s, the food is Middle European with a nod to Poland.
The decor is eclectic mix of its namesake Amadeus Mozart and what appears to be the owners travels.
A- Service- There were only two waiters and they did their next to stay on top of the approximately 12 tables and were friendly. They even served us before our reservation time.
C- Decor- as stated it’s an eclectic mix of an homage to the classical composer to brass instruments with sticks coming out of the end. Also for some reason an odd red velvet veil covered entrance , flanked on both sides by overflowing house plants. Definitely dated , not necessarily my style but some might really like it.

Food- We were really looking forward to generous portions and hearty, rich , hot food and we were left a little disappointed. While it was good ,it wasn’t great! I had the Krakow Chicken and it was fine but lacked the rich depth of flavor you expect for Eastern/ Middle European food and it was also luke warm. The Chicken paprikash was delicious however but once again served just warm. God effort but were expecting better from solace that’s so revered.

Price/Value-
2 entrees, a cup of soup and an appetizer with one glass of wine was just under $90.00 ( with tip). Was this a rip off? No. Was it worth it and would we return? Afraid not.
Summation- While this charming little restaurant rightfully deserved some of its press and accolades over the years i’m thinking that it’s best days are probably behind it now.
Good food and an odd eclectic ambience at an Ann Arbor premium , has its places. If you are interested check it out but i wouldn’t line up.
