Bløm Mead + Cider — Restaurant in Ann Arbor

Disclamer: I went in biased with the assumption I'd like what I tried.

I had a flight and enjoyed each of four in the flight.

The flight started with the spring gin botanical mead I couldn't place all the flavors, but that's on me, I did enjoy the overall flavor. All I can come up with is maybe 'floral gin yum'.

I found the hopped mead refreshing with a light but definite hop flavor which did not leave a bitter aftertaste which I have found with some hoppy beers.

The standard-ish is sweeter than they want their standard to be, taste wise I could drink it all day. Since it is 6.2 abv that would be a poor choice :) but it was good.

The last mead was the cyser (mead and Michigan apple cider ) it was a good mix and I decided to buy some cans so I can have more later.

I should also note, as many of their ingredients are from Michigan as possible.

About a week ago I visited blom for the first time. I like mead and heard lots of great things about the drinks offered, and take no pleasure in leaving a negative review. The mead was great, and thbgge staff was very friendly. I ordered a flight which was very reasonably priced, and all 4 of the meads tasted great, were larger than expected, and came on a cute tray. My issue is only with the venue. The place was lit with very bright fluorescent lights despite there being a movie projected on the back wall. The seating was unnecessarily uncomfortable and awkward and the place echoed so much that just a few people speaking at a normal volume sounded like a crowded bar. Even thought i liked the mead and the staff, as long as the venue remains an assault on the senses I will have to skip...

What a wonderful addition to the Ann Arbor culinary scene. This is no average bar. As an Ann Arborite of more than 7 years, this has been one of the best new spots to come along in quite some time. Matt, the owner (along with his wife), is personable, knowledgeable, and friendly. We stopped in today for the first time and had a flight recommended by the staff and ended up ordering a few more drinks along with their local chocolate selection. They offer yoga on Sundays and will soon offer bike repairs along with other various community events. They encourage you to bring in your own food and offer board and table games to enjoy the night and also play funny movies on their projector. I heartily recommend...
