Z Place Apartments — Local services in Ann Arbor

I really appreciate how kind and attentive the leasing office workers are here at Z place. I lived there for years and feel like my concerns are acknowledged and I'm genuinely cared about. Westley is very kind and helpful and does a great job. He is always eager to help and go above and beyond. He genuinely cares about the residents and does everything he can to help. Maintenance does a great job and is very timely. Scott is great at his job and can fix anything and everything very well. He is also friendly and kind and very respectful of our personal space when he is doing maintenance in our apartment. I see how hard the people at Z place work. (5 stars for workers)

I think there is definitely predat0ry pricing and problems from higher up. Parking is very, very expensive ($250/month) and the building doesn't have soundproofing. There are not enough maintenance workers and I feel the current team is very stretched thin and deserves better treatment. The month of august is charged as a full month even though move in isn’t until the last week of august. I think all of these things boil down to money. Regardless of all of that, I still think the workers are the unsung heroes here and that they really hold it together. Unfortunately they likely have to deal with a lot of anger for things they didn't themselves cause and I have seen some of this in passing (as well as in the other reviews). (1 star for corporate)

The gym is well maintained, the common spaces are well kept, the units are beautiful and the view is amazing. Having in-unit laundry, a large fridge, a dishwasher, and multiple bathrooms is a dream and there are many amenities that are worth it. You just need to know the downsides. Management office is slacking in dealing with problems; it should not take so long to find out where stolen packages have gone (keep in mind, it’s been months.) I don’t know what kind of people you’re hiring that are completely inadequate and unable to do a simple job properly and efficiently, but the ridiculous price that you charge for rent—keep in mind, I’m from New York City and the prices are Zaragon rival apartments here—clearly is not worth the living experience you claim to offer. There’s really no excuse for what’s been going on because your job is to put your tenants first. Furthermore, there’s been some suspicious mishandling of lease contracts that go to further prove the ineptness and carelessness of the management. Also rent should be lower for those renewing, as they have said countless times yet the new contract is much higher. The explanation? That rent overall has increased and that the contract given is cheaper than the rest. This same thing is happening over at Zaragon West, from what I’ve heard from students living there. I don’t know what you think justifies this rent increase because there’s nothing special about living at Zaragon Place. Vic Village is much closer to classes so it’s not even about paying for location at this point. But hey, maybe the money can go towards training your staff properly. I am a current resident at Z Place Apartments and my experience here has been incredible. Yes, the building has nice amenities and I love my apartment but if there is one person who truly makes this place how amazing it is, it's Rachel Matthews. She is here when I walk in at 7 am and still here past everyone else at 6 pm. She works tirelessly to make sure every resident has a good experience and goes out of her way to ensure that. I had a bad experience with one of my roommates and she helped all of us reach a positive conclusion and has not only been there for me but all of my roommates - as I am sure is the case with all of the residents. No amount of praise is enough to justify how wonderful of a person she is and she makes my experience of living here a great one. In fact, she is one of the reasons behind why I decided to renew my lease and stay here for another year. I aspire to be as dedicated of an employee as she is when I go out into the world for my full-time career. I hope that everyone has the honor of interacting with Rachel at some point in their life because she really leaves you feeling positive and amazing, in addition to being there for you...
