Let me start by saying the food was delicious!! The best rock fish I have ever had!! I came in along with 5 other girlfriends to celebrate our girls trip to Annapolis and to finish it out with a very nice upscaled dinner. Our waitress was a lovely young lady and she was certainly doing her best until she accidentally spilled an entire glass of wine and another mixed drink all over one of my friends dining that evening. I understand that accidents happen and she was apologetic however, she never informed the manager that this had happened and actually seemed as if it was no big deal. She continued about her shift without showing a lot of concern for what had just happened. Now as I said earlier this is a very nice upscale restaurant on the water that is certainly set to a certain level of standard. This standard was certainly not met by not having the manager come out to our table and at least offer to comp the drink that was spilled all over my friend and or comp anything else on our bill. We certainly were not looking for a free meal or to even have a large amount of the bill removed we were just looking for an apology and an acknowledgment that this had occurred prior to us even ordering our appetizers. After our meal was over I assumed at that point the manager would come over and say something prior to them bringing the check out to us. This did not happen! I asked one of the busboys to please go get the manager because I needed to speak to them. When the manager came to our table he did apologize for not being aware of the incident that occurred. He said that he was in his office the whole evening doing paperwork and had it been a Saturday night he would have been on the floor and aware of the situation. So I guess because it was a Sunday evening that's the reason why he was in his office all night and not walking the floor to make sure that all the guests were enjoying their meal and or having any issues. Once I informed him of the issue he offered to pay her dry cleaning bill not to apologize for the fact that she was covered in two drinks prior to our meal even being ordered. I just think that it is deplorable that a restaurant that clearly is serving an upper class demographic that all that was offered was to pay for her dry cleaning. Dry cleaning is at most $5 maybe $10... That was just not the way that this situation should have been handled. He never offered to try to make the situation right he just said send me your bill for your dry cleaning and I'll make sure that the restaurant takes care of it. As great as the food was there was certainly a sour taste in all of our mouths because of the way that the customer service was that evening. When you spend $400+ for a very nice evening out and all the manager can say to you is send me the bill for your dry cleaning certainly leaves a giant red mark on this restaurant. When you're in customer service and you failed to provide the all-around customer service experience that is expected when you come to that caliber of restaurant it certainly is very...
Read moreWhile in Bethesda for a soccer tournament over Memorial Day weekend, we decided to take a quick one-hour drive to Annapolis to enjoy a taste of the Chesapeake Bay. We made reservations online for Carrol’s Creek Café, drawn by its glowing reviews and photos, and were especially excited about the available patio seating overlooking the dock. The setting did not disappoint — our table offered a fantastic view of the harbor, complete with beautiful boats, a drawbridge, and distant glimpses of the U.S. Naval Academy and the Maryland State House. Watching the bustling harbor activity while enjoying dinner was an unforgettable experience.
Starters
We began our meal with the Fish Bites appetizer, which were a hit — crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside. A perfect start that set the tone for the rest of the meal.
Soup
As part of the Chef’s Dinner option, my husband and I enjoyed the Cream of Crab Soup, which was rich, thick, and luxurious. It was a perfect first course to enjoy on the patio as the sun set and the evening air cooled.
Salad
The Carrol’s Salad was fresh, crisp, and beautifully dressed with the house-made raspberry vinaigrette. I especially appreciated that our server was happy to substitute the blue cheese with another cheese to accommodate my preference — a thoughtful and accommodating touch.
Entrées
I had the Crab Cakes, which were outstanding — all crab with none of the typical fillers, and accompanied by perfectly roasted vegetables. My husband ordered the Cioppino, and it was divine. The broth was rich and flavorful, and the mussels and clams were cooked to perfection. Our son had the Shrimp Pasta and absolutely devoured it — always a good sign with a teen! Our daughter chose the Children’s Filet, which was cooked exactly as requested and packed with flavor.
Adding the Chef’s Dinner option was an excellent decision — it elevated the entire experience with multiple thoughtful and delicious courses.
Dessert
For dessert, I indulged in a Cronut filled with Honeycrisp Apples, topped with creamy vanilla ice cream and a decadent whiskey caramel sauce — the perfect blend of crisp, creamy, and rich. My husband enjoyed the Summer Shortcake, a light and flavorful lemon shortcake topped with fresh cream and berries. It was a delightful and refreshing end to a fantastic meal.
Our only criticism is that the children’s menu was a little too sophisticated. Our other children would have loved the options as is, but our daughter is a little less adventurous and would have preferred a burger option. ⸻
From the stunning waterfront views to the thoughtfully prepared food and excellent service, Carrol’s Creek Café made our spontaneous Annapolis detour a highlight of our trip. We’d absolutely return — it was a wonderful way to spend an evening on the...
Read moreMy husband, and I visited on 8/12/2022 with some very close friends. We asked for a window seat as we wanted a view of the marina, and that is exactly what we got. Very nice view from inside of the restaurant. Our server was Barry. If I could give Barry 100 stars I would. He was so very personable, always spoke with a smile, made suggestions for some food items, and drinks, and he was very attentive the entire time of our visit not to mention observing him with a couple of his other tables close by, and how friendly he was with them as well. Great job Barry! The food was really good. I will say however, I have never had crab dip with accompaniments on the side of carrots, broccoli, celery, and potato chips. It was rather odd as I'm used to restaurants serving crab dip with pita bread triangles. The crab dip was amazing, but I would have much preferred pita bread triangles over potato chips, and veggies. The oysters were huge! My husband, and our friend loved the oysters. I had looked at the menu online before heading out of town to visit Annapolis for the weekend, and I had already chosen my meal in advance that I wanted to eat which was scallops. However, the scallop meal that I had seen online was not offered on the menu so I chose the Thai scallop dish. It was good but not 100% to my liking but that is because I am not a huge Thai fan. Regardless, it was good. My friend wanted to order some brie with fruit or jam type of appetizer but they did not have that on the menu anymore so she was disappointed in that but she loved her dinner, and ate the crab dip. We were all satisfied with our meals, and the service was impeccable! Thank you Barry for being such an amazing server! We will definitely visit again in the future when in Annapolis for...
