Visited 6/25 Lets start with the bao. They made it look so good but both were overloaded with fat. I had a whole mouthful of fat that I couldn't even chew threw. I spit out a large amount of fat. My wife's bao was 90% fat she couldn't eat it. They made us new ones which was nice but they overcooked them to the point of being hard. The girl told us she cooked them extra so they wouldn't be so fatty. My wife is Chinese and eaten a lot of bao. If I were to guess the meat to fat ratio is off but it could be something else.
We also tried the huge fried chicken sandwich. We did not care for it much either. Firstly, The chicken meat itself had similar texture to the McChicken. I know they smash the chicken to make it look bigger but it was like biting into a soft McChicken patty. It had the texture of cheap chicken. The cold macaroni salad added nothing and all you could taste was the spice. We shared all our food and we would not order this again either.
Lastly, We ordered the pineapple upside down waffle and the mochi corn waffle. Both were good but the portion was kid size and they were 8.00 each. They tasted good but the portion size means we wont be returning customers unfortunately. We did want to eat more but they give you a small portion. Everything in the desserts is cheap so we feel they could provide more value.
The place is clean with cold ac. It was unnecessarily cold and I love cold ac. This forced us to have to rush to eat our food which affected our experience. The ac vent kept blowing our napkins off the table. We might have been under a vent but it was still super cold in the bar area. We have no reasons to...
Read moreThis is actually a modern food hall and when we stepped in, we were quite excited to order some food. The excitement turned into disappointment when we got our food : Parlor waffle kitchen- great service! But when we ordered the pineapple upside down and mochi on corn , the portions were kid's sizes ... that is if the kid was 3years old and below. Yes. That small. They were pretty tasty though but the portion doesn't justify paying $17 for both. Sweet and salty- good service too but the spicy chicken katsu was just ok. Not spicy enough and the chicken patty - even though looked huge at first, was smashed thin and doesn't have much taste. Thrive was the worst ... almost no service rendered until food was paid then one female staff looked up on the screen to start food prep. 2 pork belly baos for $15 and the one i ate had 90% "blubber" that tasted like rubber- almost unchewable . No wonder it was smothered with too much sauce to camouflage the extreme pork belly fat slice which only had a child's pinky finger size of actual meat. I returned it as it was disgusting and when the girl prepared another bao, she cut the pork belly in half and made 2 baos which I felt MORE cheated coz she could have just left the original meat size honestly and cooked it properly instead of making more justifications of how she cooked it longer etc. Tasted Mehhh. If your food and cooking skills are good , the food speaks for itself. Please improve the food quality and match the...
Read moreCame to this food hall for the first time after a long day in Apopka doing various activities and eating other various foodstuffs. We wanted a nice dinner from several different micro-restaurants, so we pulled up, sat down, and got to work.
The bar itself was very visually appealing. The customer service was a little stiff and just a little off. Maybe a little more training there. But the drinks that came from behind it were good. They had a couple of non-alcoholic beers available, so that's always nice.
As for the selection of restaurants, it was very varied. Any group of people would be able to eat here successfully and find something for every palate. There's even a vegan place. I love seeing that.
I don't want to rate a food hall based on the individual experiences at the individual food stalls I encountered, but the experience was good, not great. Compared to what the gold standard of food hall experiences should be.
I don't hold food halls to the standard five year statute of limitations that I do traditional restaurants, so I'm sure I'll be back...
