Horrible customer service by the wait staff and the manager. Called at 9:28 to see if they are able to take order to go since they are closed at 10:00. They said yes as long as I can be there before 10:00 to pick it up. I told them to give me a minute and I will call right back, the person reminded me again that they closed at 10 and I told her I’m 5 mins away and will call right back. I called back at 9:36 and a different person picked up and told me they can’t take to go order anymore. I told her I’ve just called and the other lady told me I can order as long as I come before 10. This lady said no I can’t and she was mumbling about she was standing beside the phone a few minutes ago but didn’t hear any phone call (implying I was lying about calling a few minutes ago). I told her why the other lady told me that I can order and now she can’t. She said she just asked the manager and the manager said I can’t order because the manager said there’s a cut off time for to go order. I asked her what’s the cut off time is and she said 20 til 10:00. I asked her why I can’t place an order now since it’s only 9:37. So she just hang the phone back to another lady which asked me what I want to order but at this point I was so upset. The new lady told me to calm down and place the order and she will see if the kitchen can make it for me. I own a restaurant myself and we closed at 9:00 and I will take any order whether by phone or walk in up until 8:59 or even at 9:00. At this point I didn’t want to order anymore because they don’t want my business or if they make my food I don’t know what they would do to my food. So I thank you the last lady that I spoke with because at least she was trying to take my order and told her I will take my business somewhere else. In tough times like this, any revenues would be great to a restaurant and I understand that the wait staffs might be overworked but even the manager refused to take my order when I called before the cut off time. That manager clearly didn’t do his/her work and should be fired as he/she was clearly looking out for his/her benefits instead of...
Read moreFirst of all, there were not enough stars for me to rate this restaurant appropriately. I give this restaurant ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10 stars. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by every server on duty with warm welcomes and big beautiful genuine smiles. I had just finished grocery shopping for some roasted pepper tomato soup which I planned to have for dinner. As I'm in the grocery store parking lot, my husband tells me that half of Archdale is out of power, including our home. I looked across the parking lot to see the Carolina Diner shining bright blue and silver. I really had been thinking about the soup for a few hours. After our server Kayleigh seated us and took our drink orders, the thought crossed my mind... Although I totally embarrassed my husband with the next words from my mouth, Kayleigh was not bothered at all. I still wanted my soup y'all!!!! So I told her I had a wierd question to ask- I told her about my delicious soup in the car and asked if I could have it warmed up so that I could still have it for dinner. She went to see if I could be accommodated..... Needless to say, I was able to have the soup I'd been craving all day AND I ordered a grilled cheese on Texas toast that she recommended. It was the perfect meal along with my hot tea. That's customer service beyond measure!!! I felt like the luckiest customer for the service and the accomodations. My husband ordered the spaghetti dinner, it was both aesthetically beautiful and scrumptious. Carolina Diner knows how to dish out the southern hospitality from the servers, the cooks and the manager. We're definitely going back again soon!!! Here's to my new favorite diner and server in my new town. Archdale keeps surprising me one little sweet moment at a time. I'm so glad that we recently moved to this quaint little town. Thanks for reading my review and I hope you're now on your way to the diner. If not, what the heck are you still waiting on???? Thank me...
Read moreNot Impressed. The hostess sat us all the way in the back corner. The tables along the way were full of dirty, left over dishes. It was not a full or crowded when we went in to eat. There was a delay on getting our drinks, and we weren't sure who our server was supposed to be. One took our drink order, and then a guy came over to see if someone took our order. Then a second gal came over after we finished eating to bring another drink. Otherwise, service or lack of is why I rated the way I did. We felt like we were in a corner and forgotten. When we finally placed our order, it was really slow to arrive. Then, we wanted our server or "a server" to come over so we could order a dessert. No one ever came over. Then, we just wanted our check. What appeared to be a manager, came over and asked how everything was and if we needed a drink to go. What we were hoping was to simply order a dessert. She simply shrugged off the comment made about, "the food being good but, service needed improving". I mean, why bother asking, really. There was no sense talking thing's over with her, as far as we got. It was obvious she really wasn't concerned, and/or want to be bothered by our feelings. This was our first time in this diner. Not sure I'll be in a hurry to revisit. Their food was, meh. You can place two stores in a radius ... and I'll always drive to the furthest if it has better customer service relations. I default, everytime. I'll even pay more if that's part of the price. Meaning, customer service makes me go the distance, to get...
