Location: On the East Side of Oracle in a shopping center along with Guadalajara Grill The Skinny: Pricey. I think you can find other places that serve burgers just as tasty for a lot less money. As far as food, I had a burger and fries, my wife had a salad and the two kids each had a kids meal. After the smoke cleared, it was $54! The Food: By no means I am trying to be cheap but after having a few other burger places that served food just as good (see previous reviews), I was just in total sticker shock. The burger itself was flavorful yet seemed a little too “vanilla” for a $10 burger. I also wanted to give their “truffle fries” a shot. As much as it seemed like this should have added flavor to the fries, most of the mix ended up below the fries. The salad I felt was just …..on par. It was a chopped salad but it was appx $4 extra just to add a small amount of chicken. The Restaurant: As you can tell, I felt that price was the overall thorn for me. The restaurant itself was very nice but I felt that a place like this did not need to have table service but would be well served as a fast-casual type burger place (not fast-food but fast-casual). I took notice that socializing among the wait staff seemed slightly more important than waiting on the table as we had to flag down servers a few times just to request ketchup for my kids (which I would have been happy to get myself if they would have allowed) Many of them gathered around the bar area or directly in front of the cooks station to just chat and not watch their tables. I did take notice that the cooking staff was doing their job very well and focused as we could see into the kitchen. The outside seating was perfect for a Tucson day. Just remember to bring plenty of money in your wallet and bring a lot of patience while having to wait for the wait staff. Tip: I would recommend going to other burger places of other calibers but if you must go, do get the Prickly Pear Tea. It had good flavor and was fresh. Restroom: Very nice and clean. Single Stall. Kids Review: The fries were...
Read moreThis is difficult. The food is good, just not served up to my liking. The problem is the menu.
The burgers are not large and that is actually good. The problem is that is all you get. No fries or slaw. The burger alone is not a meal. Your option is to order one of their many potato dishes that any one is probably great if you want the carbs. The alternative is a salad. There is one small salad that seems designed to make you want one of their other salads. The other salads look fantastic but they are HUMONGOUS! There is no half salad option. My wife had soup and a salad. She thought both were great but left more than half the salad (we are not doggy bag people).
I ordered a blue cheese burger. While it was very good, I didn't taste the blue cheese. There were some sliced pickles on the plate and they were delicious. Not wanting fries or a giant salad I asked for a menu to help fill me up. The first thing I saw was Creme Brulee. Any words on the menu after that didn't matter because I love Creame Brulee. The waitress made sure I understood it was really cheese cake. I was disappointed but went ahead. It had no resemblance to Creme Brulee and while my wife said it was good, it did not meet my expectations. Calling it Creme Brulee is a gross misrepresentation.
In the end, I left hungry and down $60 for two. I went home and made a sandwich. We will...
Read moreMultiple time visitor to Truland and have never questioned, but last night was unusual.
Drinks came out light (very little alcohol) and they sliced the lemon in a circle and left the seeds in it, seriously why do that you cant squeeze it, have to mess with the seeds and I don't care about how pretty it is. Asked the waiter said ownership wants it that way, well hopefully ownership reads this...drinks are for drinking, seeds are for planting, and if I wanted to have my fingers smell like lemons, well you can figure that out...just my opinion.
The server was ok, when he wasn't getting lectured by the manager, he looked slightly overwhelmed and was not as attentive as we would have liked. Had to asked another server to have some water as he never asked.
Ordered 2 salads, 2 burgers, and fries (asked for the fries to come with dinner). Everything came at once, at the very least the salads should have come before the burgers. I had the early riser (95% of the time I order this), and for some reason the egg came out hard boiled (new thing maybe?). One salad came undressed (and you never want to see a salad naked unless you asked for it).
Overall 3 stars, but came away saying whats going on here? We will be back at some point, was our go to for burgers, but will...
