The l only reason I gave 2 stars is because the service was great. The raw tuna was warm and fishier than expected, the “spicy” crab was sweet and not very spicy at all. The tuna was also cut a little too big I didn’t feel like I was getting enough for my money. The rice was too sweet and it didn’t help the taste of the fish. I also noticed they didn’t have any eel sauce and I was a little thrown off by that as I’m used to traditional poke and this was far from. It’s a little overplayed and over rated, I still prefer Jimmie’s or Lemmon shark because they aren’t over priced and their serving sizes were excellent and the fish was cold and fresh tasting. I’m also comparing to poke I had in Kauai on the edge of the island. I’ll definitely take the longer drive to get better poke in the future due to mine and my girlfriend’s unfortunate disappointment. They are definitely more focus on modern atmosphere when they should be focused on food quality. It feels like she learned how to make poke from a home and...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I tried this place while we were in tucson for the holidays. I have previously had poke while living in Hawaii and I can say that this is probably one of the best poke places I have been to. Clean, friendly atmosphere, with a wide selection of toppings to choose from. It's similar to subway or chipotle in the way how you're able to customize your food. We had a friendly chat with the young owner, who has experience/knowledge regarding the poke he is serving and also is established on the east side with his other successful pure poke restaurant. This one is newer and will probably need more time before it gets busier like the one on the east side, but for those living on the West/Oro Valley area, I encourage you to stop by and eat...
Read moreI went in for the first time recently as it just opened down the street.
It is set up like a Subway where they build your bowl from behind the counter and you choose ingredients. The lady at the counter was super friendly and accommodating when I told her about my food allergy to onion and spinach. She was nice enough to remake a couple ingredients fresh to be sure, as some in the trays may have been in contact with nearby onion.
The portions were massive and the ingredients tasted fresh. I was happy to see they even had some healthy bottled drink options, like kombucha. The only thing I wish, was that they had tamago, but they had a lot of great spice and sauce options. I was happy with my experience and definitely...
