Iāve always looked forward to stopping by Hurtadoās when Iām in Arlington, but my recent visit to Hayters was incredibly disappointing. I placed a large to-go order ā over $180 worth ā with the intention of taking it home to my family. Since we donāt live in the city and had a couple of people with me who ordered dine-in meals, I decided to sit and enjoy a bit of my food there before heading out.
Before we even had the chance to sit down, a short man behind the bar ā who claimed to be a manager ā rudely asked our server, āDid she order to-go and decide to eat here?ā His tone was disrespectful and completely unnecessary, especially given how much I had just spent.
To make matters worse, my friend went to the bar to order a drink, and that same āmanagerā asked her if she was going to tip him before she even had a chance to complete the transaction or see the receipt. The attitude and entitlement were just appalling.
I paid for my food, tipped, and even sat outside to be respectful of the space. For a place that shares a name with such a great restaurant, this level of customer service was a major letdown. If this is how management treats paying guests, I wonāt be back ā and Iāll be encouraging others to take their business elsewhere too. Side note- HURTADOS is GREAT. Food has always been amazing and so has the service. For me to not even step foot in the other establishment and get treated as so is very uncalled for and if I were in the position to to do something about said manager I wouldāve fired him because he will steer away...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe night I went, they had no tacos, just ribs & burgers. I ordered ribs and a Long Island Iced Tea. The young lady manning the bar told me she would make me a really good drink. A guy came by to check on us and when I told him I had ordered ribs, he mentioned that he was going to give me extra. Very nice of him. Food and drink arrived. The drink was arguably the worst mixed drink I have ever had, little taste and very little liquor involved. The ribs were cold, as if they had been pulled out of the fridge, and tasteless. I have had plenty of bbq at Hurtados, so I know that those ribs should have been better. They absolutely shouldn't have been cold. The service disappeared once we got our drinks and considering that we were at one of 3 occupied tables, that's really unacceptable. I got the check and I don't know how on earth they decided to price out their drinks, but for my drink, there were about 5 or 6 charges that together totaled the cost of my drink! At any other restaurant or bar, it's 12.99 or whatever they charge. Hurtados is awesome, but I absolutely won't come back to Hayters, nor will I recommend it to anyone. I am glad they finally stopped calling it a taco bar, because there were quite a few nights where they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter reading the positive reviews about this Bar I was able to finally get out that way this past week while visiting my sister Bailey in Arlington.
All I can say is wow. After seeing the drink menu online I was impressed with the choices as well as the daily drink specials.
We took a seat at the bar and we were greeted by Skyler who was bartending that day.
Skyler was not only cordial when Bailey and I bombarded her with questions we had about each of the specialty drinks but she was also well-informed.
Itās refreshing these days to visit an establishment for the first time and get an amazing first impression and Hayters did not dissappoint.
My sister Bailey ordered the Post Oak Old Fashioned and I had the El-Jefe.
It was a pleasure watching Skyler use her mixology skills while responding to our ingredient questions, especially with the Post Oak.
So if you are out this way in Arlington, this place is a must visit.
Our bartender Skyler was patient, fun and I wish I could have her follow me back to the lake and show our bartenders what mixology is all about.
She gets a 5 out of 5 rating from Joe and Bailey.
Iāll...
