We have a family business near this establishment and my husband always buys his coffee there. Today, my husband asked me to stop by this place to get him his coffee because he was tithed up and couldn't make it. I was on the phone finishing up a work call when I went inside to get the coffee. When you get in there, the coffee is outside the employees' balcony, just like a self-service area. Absolutely no sign stating that customers should NOT take the coffee cup to make their own coffee. So, I went in, reached for the coffee cup and made my own coffee, while finishing the work call. When I went to pay, the employee just said very rudely: "next time you want a coffee, let us know and don't you just reach for the cup". I was taken by surprise! I apologized right the way, thinking I just missed the sign since I was busy on the work call. The attendant completely ignored my apology. When I look to see if there were any sign stating that customers should not reach for the cup or something similar to that, there were NONE! I told the employee that and advised they should place one sign there instead of being rude with their customers. I am very upset the way I was treated. It was my first time inside this place and I will never go there again, neither will my husband. They lost one regular client and another potential one. I am not saying anything about their food, since I didn't even have the time to try anything there, but the SERVICE and the ATMOSPHERE of this place was not welcoming, especially after a long day at work. As mentioned, we have a small business and I believe we should treat customers...
Read moreI'd heard such great things about this place so I was looking forward to checking it out today but one employee was really RUDE. My friend ordered two lattes & when the woman said they were ready I asked her which one was oat and which was cows milk. She said the medium is oat milk, but I didn't know if I was looking at a small & a medium, or a medium & a large, so I asked her which one was the medium & she said "THE MED-I-UM!!" Instead of saying "this one," it took 3 tries & her degradingly explaining to me that a medium is bigger than a small at which point I just wanted to leave. We didn't even sit down, we went to the car to drink our coffee - I wish I hadn't wasted $23 there. If she's that mean to me just cuz I didn't know what sizes my friend had ordered, imagine how she would treat somebody with disabilities or autism! The man at the register was polite & the pastries were fine, but I won't be going back there. I'm a huge supporter of small businesses & I thought I'd be writing a glowing review about this place but instead I say I don't...
Read moreLines can be out the door, a selection not as diverse as places you might see in - say, the north end, for example, and they run out of stuff.
And for those reasons, I think Quebrada is one of the best Bakeries in the Boston area.
The fact that they don't have a diverse selection means they don't spread themselves thin trying to make a large, diverse selection of products "just good enough", but instead specialize in making what they have taste astronomical.
They run out of stuff because they make plenty of what they make, and if it's insanely busy maybe they'll run a second batch if you're lucky, but what they make tastes astronomical.
And lines out the door? See sections 1 and 2.
My advice? Order ahead and get there early. You want the best hot ham and cheese croissant in the Boston area on a Saturday morning? Get there before 9:30-10 am if...
