So very disappointed! I ordered food on Monday. I stepped out on a limb and ordered something I hadn't ordered before. It was not good, which was surprising, because im usually happy with what I get. Nevertheless, I contacted the restaurant and they said no problem. By the end of the conversation they asked me to bring the food up there. That did not sit well with because why should I be inconvenienced due to bad food? I let them know i wouldn't be bringing it til the next day since that was the next time I was going that way. I brought the food in they wrote down my name and number, and put some info in a phone and told me to call in my order when ever I was ready. I opted for a credit since I knew id be ordering my usual again. Thursday I called to order. The person on the phone started out confused by what I was telling him, then acted like I was being shady! Then he was like ok, what do you want. I placed my order and left to pick it up. When I arrived he tells me $30. I was like you just spoke to me! He proceeds to make a phone call. This woman comes to the front and tries to tell him I'm good, but he's not listening! Finally hes like we'll take of 14.99, like hes doing me a favor! I'm like I paid 15.99. So he's like ok 15.99. I'm super annoyed by now because I've taken all these trips and you're acting like I'm being dishonest!? So I tell him to take off all the extras I ordered and just give me my replacement food! Very disappointed in the customer service given to a long time customer, or any customer really. I'll being going to Thai Texas from...
Read moreThis place… is not very good. I’m a bit perplexed by the good reviews. The restaurant itself is pretty casual, definitely more so than most Thai places I feel. Service was friendly. I ordered the salt and pepper squid and the khao piak sen/chicken with the crispy chicken skin as a topping (on the side). The squid was battered into a blob, the batter was undercooked but soaking in oil. It was an oily, squishy mess. Flavor was not there. The fried chicken skin had good flavor but again the batter is wrong. It felt heavy and it was not freshly fried. Super tough, barely any crunch. The khao piak sen is the biggest disappointment. The chicken pieces were overcooked and flavorless. The broth was murky and devoid of any flavor. The broth was like the hot boiling water they cooked the chicken and the noodles in? I love khao piak sen and this made me so sad to eat and pay money for. The noodles…. They came out in short clumps. It tasted old and floury. I will not come back but maybe the usual Thai fair is what people get and will taste better? I feel like the dishes I had were so poorly cooked, I really can’t imagine there’s a standout on the menu.
Just as an aside, this place is TOO casual for the tip options to START at 20%. It’s an akin to a fried...
Read moreStaff on 11/26/22 ignored FOOD ALLERGY request! My mom, my partner, and I all have celiac disease. We cannot eat gluten. My mom ate at the restaurant tonight with her partner and her dish was made correctly (gluten free). She placed an order to go for my partner and I, and when she got home, we saw that our dishes were made incorrectly. They contained soy sauce which would cause us to become very ill. Thankfully we noticed before taking a bite. We called the restaurant and asked if they could remake the food. The person who answered the phone said that the waiter doesn’t remember my mom asking for gluten free dishes. My mom absolutely asked for gluten free dishes. The person who answered said it was my mom’s fault and they would not remake the order.
I can’t tell you how disappointing this is. Having celiac disease makes eating outside of home very difficult. Sunny Thai was always a safe place for us to eat. Amazing food and amazing staff.
That isn’t true for us anymore. Food allergies are serious, can be life threatening. You have to listen to requests and make sure food is prepared accordingly. And if you do make a mistake, correct it.
We cannot trust this restaurant and won’t be...
