We stayed at the Mariott Courtyard Dallas/Arlington South last week as my daughters high school softball team was playing in the state tournament at UTA. We checked in on Tuesday evening, where the first issues started. I booked a king bed room and upon entering the room, I find we are in a double queen handicapped room. I called the front desk to tell them I booked a King room and that's what I had wanted. The front desk clerk was unapologetic and said that's all they have, I asked her why she didn't tell me this when I checked in and her response was I don't know.||The second issue was with the shower, because it was a handicap room, there was only a handheld faucet. To make matters worse, the handicap seat could only stay down as the hotel had attached the shampoo/conditioner/body wash containers to the wall making it impossible to raise the handicap shower seat. This made for a very tight fit in the shower.||Lastly and the most devastating thing to happen to us was on the last night of our stay. We had packed up our truck and were going to grab some breakfast before my daughter's state championship game. As I started the truck, we heard a horrendous noise, as if the motor were about to explode. As I stepped on the gas, the noise only got louder at which point I jumped out of the truck and proceeded to look underneath. Sure enough, my catalytic converter on the passenger side had been cut out and stolen. Mind you, I was parked on the right side of the hotel right outside the entrance/exit door. My wife immediately went inside to speak to the hotel manager and call the Arlington PD, I stayed to call my insurance company. The hotel manager tells my wife that this is an ongoing issue and just a few nights before three trucks had the same thing happen in one night. An Arlington PD office showed up within minutes, I was able to file a police report and he said the same thing that the hotel manager told us. Mind you at this point my daughters state title game is about to start in 15 minutes, so I proceed to drive my truck to the stadium. It was extremely loud and any power the truck had was gone. To make matters worse, the Toyota dealerships in Arlington told my insurance company that catalytic converters are on back order for 4 months, I could leave my truck and they would give me a rental, mind you I live 5 hours away in San Antonio. I said that wasn't an option and for the next hour I was on the phone trying to determine how we were going to get home, I missed my daughters entire game. The once in lifetime moment was gone, I missed them win the state title. My only choice was to put an aftermarket converter, this is a 2021 Tundra and not what I was wanting to do. However it was all I could do to get us home. ||||On the way to San Antonio, I called Marriott to express my frustration, the hotel had no signs outside warning of the recent vandalism, they have no exterior cameras (confirmed to Arlington PD by hotel manager) and the have no security roaming the property even though they charge you $7 a day parking (a joke). I told Marriott at the least I wanted by almost $300 stay reimbursed as well as the $1k dollars I had to pay out of pocket for the catalytic converter. The manager took my complaint and said Marriott would contact me within 72 hours. Now 96 hours later and nothing, so I call back in last night. I'm being told that they spoke to the General Manager and that he stated they have security roaming the property and there are signs stating they are not responsible for break ins, both of which are lies. Not only am I out $1300, but my almost brand new truck now has aftermarket parts. ||||We travel extensively for my daughters travel softball team and I will be sharing my experience with the team, so that we no longer stay at Marriott locations as we travel. Additionally, this review will be posted everywhere to include...
Read moreWhen I arrived at the hotel, I noticed an older gentleman sitting in the lobby, waiting. I assumed, like me, he was waiting to be checked in. We both waited for about five minutes before the front desk agent finally appeared. He greeted the gentleman, thanked him for his patience, and proceeded to check him in. Once he finished, he moved on to me — but I received no greeting, no acknowledgment, and no sense of customer service. He simply handed me my room keys without offering any information about the hotel amenities, breakfast hours, or anything else.
I went up to my room and tried to watch TV, but it said "no signal." Having worked at Marriott for many years, I assumed it might be a loose cable connection, so I attempted to fix it myself — but had no luck. I called the front desk, and the agent said he would come up to try it himself. When he arrived, he couldn’t get it to work either, so he said he’d change my room. A few minutes later, he returned with new room keys and let me know he had checked the TV in the new room and confirmed it was working.
In the new room, everything seemed fine at first — the TV was on and working. However, when I tried to turn the volume down, it wouldn't respond. It was so loud I felt embarrassed. I called the front desk again and explained the issue. A different staff member answered and said she would come up to try using a different remote. She did, but it didn’t solve the problem. When I asked what the next step would be, she simply replied, “I just work here and come when I’m told. I’m sorry about this. You can grab something from the market if you'd like.”
There was no attempt to further assist or properly accommodate us, and we ended up having to go to sleep with the issue unresolved. Overall, the experience was disappointing — especially considering the basic level of service I’ve come to expect, both as a former Marriott employee...
Read moreI booked my room at this hotel because it's close to my job and winter weather was coming in. I don't have the luxury of "ice days" off. I didn't want to get up extra early to drive all the way to work from my house. Interestingly enough, I did the same thing at another hotel chain nearby last year, and while I was on my way to the hotel, they called me to simply say my reservation was being cancelled. No reason given but I suspect they rented my room out from under me for a higher price. So I was somewhat worried this might happen here based on that experience. No such thing! I arrived at check-in and there were no problems. I booked a junior suite so I could relax and get a good night's sleep before getting up early for work. The guy that checked me in was polite and seemed apologetic that the only junior suite currently available was on the first floor. I told him that was perfect. Worked out better for me so I could quickly get out the side door and to my car since I knew I was going to have go in and out while warming it up and scraping off the ice. He also told me about the breakfast that's available at 6am, but I told him I would be out by 5. So I did not use any of the amenities. But the room was perfect. I walked in and it was clean and orderly. It was also nice and warm......very relaxing. I was able to settle in and relax while watching a little TV and then went to bed early so I could get a good night's sleep. I had no problems sleeping. The bed was comfortable and I didn't have any issues with noise from other guests. ||I wasn't here long since I left so early the next morning. But this was a life saver for me and made the workday much better. The price for the room was very reasonable in my opinion and the next time we get bad weather I won't hesitate to...
