Zio Al's Pizza & Pasta (UTA) — Restaurant in Arlington

Really hated the experience I had at this place, went for thanksgiving dinner on 11/28/24 and man was my experience really bad at this place wish I had gone to a different place was a bad end to my thanksgiving, first the food is 4 star one star because the butter was just flowing down the pizza and I think that’s unhealthy even for a pizza, but it’s fine really enjoyed the food. But the real issue was the atmosphere and the guy at the billing counter, the music was too loud and we had to scream at each other to hear what we were talking about, and the guys at the billing counter was racist and immediately acting weird when he saw us, he treated the guests before and after us differently and he was pretending as if we don’t know calculations and showing off that he had a calculator app on his phone and he could do basic maths on it, then we had to wait an hour for our pizza I mean who waits an hour for pizza? I get it that it was thanksgiving and there is a rush, but they were prioritizing Uber and door dash orders and when it all slowed down with deliveries the pizzas were out in 5 min, when I went to speak to the guy that it’s been an hour, give me some information about it or refund us so we can go to another place, he was like “ this is the problem with you guys, you don’t even know how to wait patiently “ I mean firstly who is you guys? And second so waiting for an hour is not waiting patiently? If it’s crowded you could let us know it’s busy it’ll take a while we would have gone to a different place but they didn’t. When another customer got annoyed and went to talk he just started cursing the customer and was making statements that if you cannot wait you can leave, if you want your pizza just shut up and wait and man that was my limit. I was about to leave irrespective of my order but hunger got in the way and my pizza was ready so had to eat it before we left. Either they deal with this billing counter guys or zio als is ruined and I definitely won’t be going there again. Hope you find this...

Never been near the UTA campus before so had to rely on something within walking distance of the arena where the Dallas Wings play their home games.

I'm Italian.... my last name ends in "o".... and this place had me worried from the second I walked in. It's a typical "campus joint" with just enough seating for those who avoid Insomnia Cookie in fear of diabetes and instead brave their future arteries slamming shut with Italian-induced triglycerides.

I played it safe with chicken parm requesting extra sauce. Although I cannot state for certain, the meal may have been pre-prepared as it came in a aluminum tin, with breadsticks, and in a small pizza box.

I can say this for certain... it TASTED as though it were prepackaged and frozen... had way more spaghetti than chicken... and had sauce that was mostly water. Swanson's kinda stuff.

College kids deserve better... even the dumb ones who will no doubt rack up thousands in debt, get stressed out serving specialty coffee, snowflake their way back into their old room, and vote for student debt relief in every election until the end of time.

I paid off every cent of my student debt working a shift that started at 3 am in a hospital histology lab. I credit this to the amazing Italian restaurants in Syracuse, NY whose lasagna, chicken parm, calzones, and waitresses had NO water in the sauce!!!!

Really good spot for late night eats and very clean. I will probably give this place another chance. When I walked in, I definitely liked the atmosphere, but I was standing out front for about 5 min before seeing anyone who worked here. There also was a uber eats driver here, well ahead of me. It took a few times after ringing the bell for someone to come to the front. It looked like they didn't want to take any orders, but again, they could have been busy. I asked for suggestions only to get a minimal response, saying I don't know. So I ordered a Philly which seemed like a good choice. They brought it out and walked away in a closed box. When I opened it, it was burnt. I was shocked that they were okay with handing out burnt food. Picture will be attached. I'm sure the food is better than what I got tonight and I know everyone has a off day. Reviews are also really good, which is why I'm willing to give it another try another day. I hope the next time...
