Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Asheville

As an ex-employee, I saw first hand what is going on inside this location in Arden.

1. In the 5 weeks I was there, the 6 fryers used for cooking were only changed or filtered twice. They should filtered twice a day, and changed with new oil as needed. The company says that the cook area is most important as over 90% of their product is produced there. And yet, IT IS the most neglected area of the restaurant. Which is saying a lot, considering everything as a whole. No wonder the chicken products taste burnt.
2. Product pulls ( items needed to thaw in time for use) were never done at night as they needed to be. The opening shifts consistently had to do pulls to thaw so they could try to have enough product to run. This is in addition to their opening duties, and put away of delivery trucks delivered in the early AM. There were times delivered product was still sitting on the floor, in everyone's way, at 2:00pm.
3. These delivery orders were often blind orders done in a rush because management didn't get the order in on time. That's another reason they always seemed to be out of something.
4. Dirty dishes and equipment would stack up all day and ignored. The cook was expected to wash all dirty dishes AND run the trash and boxes outside left by others, without any help from anyone else. I literally watched employees step over trash and boxes to go smoke in the dumpster area.
5. I was originally hired for the Smokey Park store. They used me and two hired Managers, also for the Smokey Park store, to open and pick up the slack for the Arden store. The powers that be called this "training." As the time got closer to open the Smokey Park location, I heard they wanted to train more employees hired for the Smokey Park store, in the Arden store so they could "get reps." I refused (on a Saturday) to do this and made it known that I would not go back to the Arden location. That following Tuesday, after helping put up the huge truck for opening in the Smokey Park location on Monday, I was let go. They said my attitude was "corrosive" and not needed in the new store. No write ups, no previous warnings or conversation. And the girl with purple hair mentioned in another review as the" only one that seemed to care" was let go for the same reason as I was, on the same Tuesday.
6. In the 5 weeks I was there, Neither I or anyone else there, were temp checked as per their own Covid-19 protocol . The problems in the Arden location are from the top down. The restaurant is a clear reflection of "the powers that be" (for this location) unprofessional attitude...

This place ruined my Father’s Day

Usually.. My wife & I will order takeout a few times a week.. but about a year ago.. 9 months ago to be exact.. my life was changing without me even knowing it

My wife has insisted that she should be the one to pick up our order from Popeye’s

No biggie.. but she started acting weird

Suddenly it was taking her longer to get back home

She blamed it on traffic

She slipped up one time & after dinner we were going to be romantic.. but why did she have chicken crumbs down there??

She just laughed it off

Fast forward to today.. and we’re in the hospital because she’s about to give birth.. Happy Father’s Day, right?

WRONG

I don’t mean this to come off some type of way.. but the baby is very dark with very curly hair.. except we’re both WHITE!!

She started crying until she finally broke down and admitted that she’s been having an affair with the manager of this Popeye’s restaurant

I called their corporate office

Tell me why they apologized.. but all that they offered was a coupon for 20% off of my next order??!!!!

I asked her why him

She told me that he’s known for this around town.. That he is also doing this with the female employees during their shifts.. It’s unacceptable!!!

If your girlfriend or wife comes back home with her hair messy & with chicken crumbs.. Don’t say that I didn’t warn...

Love the food but not the wait.

It's been a long time since I ate at Popeyes, they built this new one over there near the airport and it's pretty convenient to get to.

Problem is when I pulled in there on a Saturday afternoon to go through the drive-thru because the dining room's closed, I was in a line that almost had me sitting out onto the highway because they were moving so slow.

Fortunately it started to speed up before somebody else would want to try to get in behind me there, cuz they definitely would have been out on the highway by then.

In any event Melissa the manager we talked to on the drive thru was real friendly and we had a good chat and were able to order some food for me and the wife.

Like I said we hadn't been there in a while and we had plenty of time in line so we were looking it up on the internet for their menu.

Had the spicy chicken sandwich that I remember so well, along with that supposedly fresh squeezed lemonade? But I think I would just get a soda in the end that stuff wasn't worth the hype.

if you get the apple pie they're pretty good but they got a lot of sugar and crumbs, so if you're eating in your car you better have plenty of napkins.

They got some real good sauces especially the spicy one can't remember the exact name but get yourself a good mix of sauces if you get tenders or the popcorn shrimp.

Overall a pretty good value...
