Four of us had a reservation on a Saturday evening at 5:45pm. We were seated right away.
Server was friendly and helpful through the entire meal. We ordered brussel sprouts, bread and the onion dip for appetizers. The brussel sprouts were fantastic! I could've ordered 3 of those and been happy. 2 of us also ordered the margarita and those were really good.
3 of us ordered the filet and the other ordered a salad. My filet was cooked as I ordered it and it had a decent, flavorful crust. However, the sides left a lot to be desired. I ordered the garlic mashed potatoes and green beans with garlic and shallots. The mashed potatoes needed a good helping of salt and fat....they were so transparent and bland. The garlic flavor and herbs in them were ok but they could have been elevated to a much more expected level with some butter/salt and dash of milk/cream. I wonder if the chef even tasted these? They literally tasted like potatoes and water. The green beans had absolutely no shallots (or flavor). There was a small amount of garlic (and I do mean small) on them but again these lacked flavor. After tasting these 2 sides I wished I had ordered the fries because they looked good. I will return to give some other sides a try but I think salt and fat are pretty basic things any chef should know how to utilize properly....especially in a highly priced restaurant like this one.
Again, I had no problem with my steak and that aspect of my meal was fine. In addition to an appetizer, you should offer the brussel sprouts as a side as well. The brussel sprouts were so flavorful...probably the most flavorful thing I had all night which is why the other sides were so disappointing.
For dessert, we ordered the ice box lemon and the chocolate cake. I think the ice box lemon stole the show. Surprisingly, the chocolate cake was pretty dry. We were told that the chocolate cake was the only dessert they do not make in house...maybe they should stop outsourcing that one.
Overall, we had a nice meal but there was one thing that stuck out for a bit of an annoying last impression. Towards the last maybe 30 minutes of our time there the manager (in a red long sleeved dress shirt) kept walking by our table....and I don't mean like once or twice. We were chatting and enjoying our time out and it was obvious that he was circling like a hawk trying to get us to leave so they could have our booth. We arrived at 5:45 pm and left 8pm. We finally decided to just leave because what he was doing was pretty annoying and slightly rude. I don't think the amount of time we spent there was unreasonable considering we dropped a little under $250 total on dinner. Making someone feel rushed or like they need to leave is a no no. You want people to enjoy their...

Read moreAlthough I wish they could do some acoustic rehabbing, we love this neighborhood haunt! It’s just a little bit echo-y and can be hard to talk and hear when it gets busy. That being said, the food and the service has always been great. Friendly, efficient, not overly in-your-face and the staff genuinely seems happy. Went for Mothers Day dinner and we were in and out in an hour and 15, without being rushed. Started with their version of grilled Caesar salad for the table. It’s huge and will easily feed 3-4. There are capers and huge flakes of reggiano parmigiano but the kicker is that bacon! It’s maple glazed (I think) and tastes like it just came off the wood smoker. It’s not an authentic Caesar, but it knocked our socks off. I had the grilled duck frites which I requested medium rare and it was perfect. Tender, pink and the skin was crispy and charred, served with hot honey and crispy thin fries. Since we opted to share a salad as an app, the waiter suggested charred broccoli instead. Everything was perfect. My husband had the grilled pork belly and the meat was butter tender and also charred on the outside, it was accompanied by mashed potatoes and grilled okra and tomatoes. Mom had a smaller dish- which was actually an appetizer but plentiful- of beef and bleu frites. The beef was not just the burnt ends of whatever was leftover in the kitchen (which is often the case) but perfectly cooked, tender pieces of grilled beef with bleu cheese, mushrooms and scallions on a bed of frites. (Okay, can you say “frites overload?” Absolutely! ) and to finish we shared the Brûléed NY cheesecake which was delicious and just sweet enough to end the meal on a nice note! Our server, Brendan was excellent and the prices were more than...
