Momentum Gallery showcases work that encapsulates, harmoniously, both the spirit of Asheville and contemporary art. From the very beginning, Jordan and Shifra have put their hearts into creating this one of a kind white-wall gallery. The curation is impeccable and wonderfully showcases the artists they have chosen to represent, many of whom are local. Despite the grandiose appearance of their collection, so much of their works are affordable for first time art collectors and craft enthusiasts. Whether you are an art buyer or not doesn't seem to bother Shifra, who will happily indulge in conversation about pieces and process regardless. Be that as it may, Momentum is, in my opinion, one of the best galleries in the U.S. for between the affordable pieces are breathtaking museum quality works of art. All and all, it is a cultural experience and a soul enriching experience to visit. You would be remiss to come to Asheville without stopping by to peruse the two story, wonderfully pleasant and constantly evolving...
Read moreMomentum Gallery is a must visit in Asheville. The layout is amazing and the artists work displayed there is top notch. Mariella Bisson makes my soul sing with her paintaings of the woods, water, and wild places of North Carolina. She has this amazing way of being able to make you want to be there and see what she sees. While I am not a NC native, her work really evoked in me a nostalgia and remembrance and wistfulness for my favorite woods - the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The other artist whose work really sang to me was Andy Farkas. I just loved the turn of phrase and the tie ins to the art. Probably the piece that stood out the most to me was "It came to her." Just so well done - like the hint of dream meets the magic of nature.
I really have to say for someone who is by no means an expert at art that I felt the entire experience was warm and welcoming. The staff is top notch, the vibe is wonderful. I recommend this gallery to anyone headed...
Read moreI've been going to Momentum Gallery for years and almost literally fell in love with it. I've been to a lot of galleries and museums in my 64+ years, so it is strange and wonderful to get so excited about a gallery. I finally bought something there. 2 pieces by Tommy Simpson that are paintings on carved wood. Dealing with Jordan and Shifra and the staff was super easy and seamless. They threw in a coffee table book about the artist free with the purchase, and the art itself was an extremely good value. They seem to take their mission of getting fine art into the homes and lives of locals and tourists alike quite seriously. Their curation of modern art is second to none in my experience. They are one of many factors in my decision to move to Asheville. I hope they carry on for...
