What a fantastic addition to the Astoria culinary scene! My intent was to go in and try the Pho Ga, but I ended up ordering their Grilled Chicken Vermicelli Bowl instead. I was not disappointed! It was a fantastic choice. The bowl arrived with a HUGE portion of vermicelli rice noodles packed with expertly julienne carrots and cucumbers, bean sprouts, mint, and cilantro. The grilled chicken was plentiful AND delicious! The grilled flavor was perfect. An amazing sweet sauce tied all the flavors together making my taste buds explode with delight! My friend got the Tofu bowl and I could tell she thoroughly enjoyed it. We also ordered some Fresh Spring rolls with chicken. They were packed with vermicelli noodles, lettuce, bean sprouts and basil, accompanied with a thick peanut sauce. They were very tasty, with the peanut sauce tying all the flavors together nicely. I can't wait to go back and try the Pho. I can only imagine how tasty it will be! Such a great addition to the restaurant scene in Astoria. Definite two thumbs up! Some reviews are making comments about the prices being too high. Honestly, everything is priced too high! They are no higher than any other restaurant in the area. Small businesses are struggling, and the consumer is absorbing the ridiculous taxes and product costs. (Remember this when you vote, cause that’s who’s to blame!) 🤷♀️ Go...
Read more⚠️⚠️⚠️ Metal Wire In Food ⚠️⚠️⚠️
Have gone many times but today a takeout order had a metal 3" wire wrapped in my meat in my pho. EXTREMELY dangerous. Make sure to inspect and chew your food carefully.
Are they using metal wire brushes for the grill?? Should immediately change to something safer.
This is the 2nd pho restaurant in the area that has done this. Be careful everyone...
Original Review:
The pho and the vermicelli were both pretty good. I have other favorites in Beaverton, but it's close to satisfying overall.
The wife and I spent $70 all in.. I cannot regularly afford this. For example, I spent $9 on lemonade. We ordered two entrees + app + 1 drink. Prices should come down. Maybe they will be forced to if they notice people aren't buying things or showing up.
The pork fresh rolls were pretty bland. For $11 they would be so much better if they added the grilled pork instead of the sliced pork. Just not great as is.
I would come back for the vermicelli!
UPDATE:
Visited again and got the pork and eggroll vermicelli again and my wife got the special flank pho. I can tell they improved the broth since I tried it last although it's a little bit sweet for my taste.
Still really like the vermicelli, it's a winner. We'll be going back especially through the fall and winter for good...
Read moreI have eaten at quite a few Vietnamese pho restaurants through the years with my husband when we lived in Portland and whenever we would travel to other big cities. Pho Mekha in Astoria OR is as authentic as you can get. The first time we ate there and ordered pho, with tripe, beef, meat balls, mint leaves, bean sprouts and lime, it was like an OMG! moment. Their appetizers and curry dishes to their drinks are delicious too. I remember telling my husband, “This! This is authentic!” The owners are awesome and very friendly, as well as their servers. The decor is so intriguing, interesting and enlightening. I find something different each time we go. People say the price is high, but what restaurant downtown isn’t high anymore? Food prices have gone up. That’s my 5-star review and opinion. I’m pho...
