Rating: 2.5 stars LaVegano is inside of Municipal Market, which includes a number of other prepared-food options as well as grocery offerings. I was looking for vegetarian-friendly soul food restaurants, and particularly Black-owned establishments, and this was one that consistently popped up as recommended. It was very quiet when I came by on a weekday morning; I wasn't even sure if they were open yet until I saw some of the staff come around. They were extremely nice, even apologizing for the wait, and I ordered on their recommendation the vegan chili and jalapeño corn bread. The chili was already made, so it was just a matter of getting it hot and serving it. I was pretty excited to try it, but it didn't really deliver. The chili was very thin and watery, which is a common problem when making a vegan alternative to a typically meat-based dish, but I had higher hopes for a vegan-focused restaurant. It didn't taste bad, but it just wasn't what I was expecting or looking for when I ordered chili. There was some kick to it, which was pleasant. The cornbread was in pretty rough shape. It was extremely dry, another common complaint for baked goods, but one that definitely shouldn't be an issue at ANY restaurant. It was also very hard, so I'm assuming these were made the prior day and not heated up to soften at all in the morning. I was also surprised by portion sizes, as there was only one small muffin-sized piece of cornbread to go with a small container of chili, especially since I had seen online reviews with larger meals. The plants hanging around the seating area make for really nice adornment. In fact, I heard the owner of another stall in the market come by to ask where the décor was from. Because the employees working here are so nice, I'm bumping this up by a half-star to 2.5 stars.

So glad this place has opened in the municipal market! The person we talked to was super friendly. They serve a variety of delicious looking vegan food and their dining set up is super cute! They also had a bunch of vegan pastries such as cakes and vegan peach cobbler when we went today (11/19/22). We got the vegan jalapeno corn bread (delicious and a great price) and the pumpkin pie gelato (they made in partnership with the coffee gelato place). The gelato is pricy but REALLY delicious. Thank you lavegano! Definitely come visit this new vegan place!!

What a beautiful vegan oasis in the middle of Atlanta's Municipal Market! In town for a conference from the Bay Area, and I'm so thrilled to find delicious plant based Southern food. The chili and cornbread was perfect on a cold Novemeber lunch. The owner Mr. Cunningham is a delight, and has a real vision for a great business with sustainability and local roots at the core. The attention to little design details is perfect. I even got a Mason jar to go included! This one is not to be missed!!
