The formal, original name of this park, named after it’s namesake, is Joel Hurt Memorial Park. The original fountain was erected where the newish fountain is now located called “from the ashes.” Mr. Hurt was the dreamer and constructor of Inman Park, Druid Hills, and the impetus for the majority of downtown Atlanta’s footprint. I believe my grandfather many times over would be pleased to know some less fortunate folks were being helped on land associated with his name. Photo from “JOEL HURT AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF ATLANTA.” My man.

Beautiful park space with plenty of seating. Can be a peaceful place to sit by the water fountain and unwind —when there is not others present, playing loud music, disrupting the peace. I’m glad that the park was redesigned, and constructed perfectly for the area. Right on the campus of GSU, so plenty of students can be seen utilizing the space throughout the school semester. Great addition to highlight the beauty of DT Atlanta when not riddled with trash and foolishness. Let’s continue to keep these spaces clean and beautiful ❤️

Nice park at Georgia State University, there are nice stone benches to sit on and at night the water fountain is absolutely gorgeous in 💙🔵 BLUE---Children would enjoy the squirrels scurrying about...Great place to sit and reflect upon the peace and quiet as students pass thru on the way to class

They are getting better, so far I have seeing some improvement which is very good and positive. Instead of pushing the homeless people out and the people who have a good heart ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 as of a good servant and steward heart. They are now treating the homeless men, women, child, babies, elderllies, handicaps and the less fortunate way better now. With a more positive environment and attitude. Another words real Love ❤️, kindness and gentleness, compassion and Charity has arrive and are doing very well. But peers see how long...
