I don’t know what I am missing regarding all the hype surrounding TopGolf. Let me explain… My family and I have been so excited for literally years to finally get a chance go here. I received a gift card from a friend, and a few nights ago decided to use it for my Dad’s birthday here. To start, you can only book reservations via the app or website. I booked my reservation at ATL Midtown. After booking, it said “error”, but it sent me an email confirming my new membership. I called customer service to see if it actually went through and she said there was no reservation under my name and to re-try. So I went back to book again, tried to pay my $37 deposit again, and it finally went through. Well, 1-2 hrs later when we were getting ready to head there from another place in ATL, I get a text confirming my booking at a completely different location. I called customer service back, and they said “Oh yeah, that happens a lot with our ATL locations where the system will switch the location on you.” Ummm?! That needs to be fixed ASAP because that is a hugeeee problem. She refunded my money back onto my gift card, but said it would be THREE DAYS to get the money back, so now I couldn’t use my $50 gift card while we are here. Luckily the location we had actually booked for wasn’t busy so we could just walk in, BUT if it had been any other busy night, we would’ve just driven all the way to ATL for nothing for my Dad’s bday. It did suck to lose out on the opportunity to use my giftcard, as that is one of the main reasons we chose to come here. Now, once we got there, horrible experience once again. We restarted our game I believe SEVEN times bc the sensors didn’t work correctly (we were doing exactly as the employees were instructing us on how to do it), and it still wouldn’t work. It would score multiple times when someone only hit the ball once, and there was no way to remove the duplicate scores other than to restart the entire game. You can change the scores and move it to another person, but you can’t remove a play at all which really messed up our whole game many times. We paid for an hour of play time but unfortunately had to spend that entire time just trying to get the dang system to work correctly. It was honestly pretty infuriating. Additionally, I get it, the best way to make money is to rip people off with the whole “pay by time” thing, but it’s such a negative about this whole experience. Even if the game worked as it should, you have to rush quickly bc time is ticking down until you have to leave your section. We had quite literally no time to just chill and enjoy each other bc we had to hurry up and make sure each player went immediately after the other, and we had to quickly finish our food and drinks as well before time ran out. Once the clock gets down to 3 mins, the employees are instructed to force you to make a decision on if you want to pay for more time or else you gotta go, DESPITE all the food and drinks on the table, if you have finished the first game or not, or if you might want to play another game in maybe 10-15 mins. They don’t care. Overall, such a horrible experience being booked at the wrong location, not being able to use my giftcard, not having an accurate system to actually play, and then being extremely rushed to play, eat, drink, enjoy each other, etc. It was a nice atmosphere overall which really sucks bc all this really ruined it. I would only go back if I am really drunk and if it’s not on my dime, honestly. Waste of money! ALSO how could I forget? See picture below of their beer pitcher. Large column in the middle to rip you off. They say it’s to “keep it cold”. I would rather get my money’s worth for an actual pitcher.

OK so I need to post this only because there were so many failures during my experience here yesterday.

First, my wife and my daughter and I decided to grab some food at a table near the bar. Our server was awesome. Very attentive and took our orders quickly. The food came out reasonably fast, and although it was a bit overcooked for our taste we still ate almost all of it. The problem started when I ordered a second drink....and I could see my drink sitting at the service well for quite awhile - at least a few minutes - while I ate. There were four employees all standing around the service well chatting and no one made a move to walk the only drink sitting there to our table a mere 15 feet away, so I decided to hop up and go get it myself. I walked up and asked "is that my drink?" and the bartender very quickly and rudely replied "I don't know". I pointed to my table, assuming there was a table number printed on the ticket and told her that I was sitting there. No reply. Another lady standing there with long braids said "your server has to bring it over to you". Totally rude responses all around and no offer or desire to help or even check if that was the drink I was waiting on. Completely useless. So walked back to my table and our server happened to come back at that moment and bring it over to me. She said "sorry I thought they would have brought it over to you". Yep - me too. Or at least would have taken a second to look at the ticket and hand it to me since I had to get up and try to get it myself. I was pretty annoyed at their laziness and the attitude I received when I dared try to do their job for them - a job they apparently didn't want to do anyway.

Things didn't get much better once we got to our bay to play for a while. I signed up for 60 minutes, and within moments our server was at our bay explaining the rules and taking our order. She started out really strong. I know when I ordered my drink we had 57 minutes left. By the time we had 32 minutes of our 60 minute session and I still hadn't gotten my drink, so I went back to the bar to try to just get it myself - yet again. Wrong move. There was a guy behind the bar so I asked for help. Turns out he wasn't the bartender, he didn't recall a ticket coming in for the drink I ordered, and the original rude bartender who was the only one who could make it was nowhere to be found. Shocker. My original (and very awesome) server recognized me and came up to ask what I needed and I told her I ordered the same drink I had ordered from her at our bay almost 30 minutes ago, and not surprisingly she was super helpful. Within a few minutes a woman (who I assume was the manager on duty wearing a red shirt and who was very nice and helpful) brought it to the bay for me.

A few minutes later our server came back to the bay and promised my drink was coming (by this time we had about 20 minutes left on our 60 minute slot - so this is almost 40 minutes after I originally ordered) - and she didn't seem to notice my drink had magically appeared. At some point she figured it out and asked how everything was. When we had about 15 minutes left she asked if we wanted to extend our time, and we decided to just close out. She left the wrong credit card on our table (it turns out it belonged to the bay next to us), and when she dropped the check we were charged $15 as a new sign up fee ($5 for each player) even though I've been to Top Golf more times than I can count and the three of us were at this exact Top Golf not 2 weeks ago. Luckily the manager in the red shirt was nice enough to take it off the bill for us after we explained we had already signed up many years ago.

I still tipped 20% to the new server and I can understand she was probably overwhelmed, but I have to tell you - that bartender is absolutely useless and rude. And this is coming from someone who spent over a decade in the service industry. Do better, Top Golf. Almost all my our issues from our experience was directly related to that bar. Upgrade...

I visited topgolf for my birthday on Saturday and I have to say. I was extremely disappointed with the service. The entire thing was unorganized. Even from booking the bays. When I booked the bays there were no clear instructions on how things worked. It didn’t give me a detailed breakdown on what to do upon arrival. I went to the check in counter once I arrived and was told I had to wait until my reservation time. Which was fine. I was just trying to let them know I was there because I was not told how things worked. I wasn’t told I would receive a text when I went to the counter when I first arrived. I was only told my second trip to the counter that I would receive a text message with the information. Then when we got to the bays the servers were doing a shift change and I was told that we couldn’t all pay separate we had to put 5 cards on file per bay. After I was told when I called and spoke with an event planner that all I had to do when I got there was put my card on file but to tell the server everyone was separate and everyone can pay for their own bill. That was not the case and it made things extremely complicated. Then I was told there were too many people in my section. Which was fine. So, I asked an employee if some of my guests could go to bay 205 since it was unoccupied. I was told yes. I asked the employee if they could just eat and drink and he said yes that’s fine. They did not have to play. When my friends went over there. They were told by the same employee that told me it was fine that they couldn’t sit there if they were not paying to play. So my guests left and went to the bar. After that we received our food 14 mins before our time was up. My server walked by and said 14 mins. As if we could just swallow food in 14 mins and close out our tabs. Our server even told my mom that she was going to ask them to extend our time because the kitchen was slow and we received our food late. Only to turn around and our time not be extended. I didn’t like that at all. She didn’t even pull me to the side and let me know. She just walked by saying “14 mins” out loud but in a low tone. I thought that was very unprofessional. My cousin asked if we could have more time because we just received our food. We were told no because another reservation was behind us. That was not our problem. We should’ve been able to sit and enjoy our food without being rushed. Especially after it came out late. If that was the case we wouldn’t have even ordered food. When we were finally wrapping things up the next reservation was standing behind our bay waiting for us to leave. Everything was just chaotic. There was not a smooth flow whatsoever. When guests book online. The rules should be sent on how everything works so we’ll know what to expect. Also, there’s no way that it should’ve been one server for two bays. She was overwhelmed and it was very obvious. She kept forgetting to bring things. To the point my friend had to cancel his drink order. We were literally closing out our tabs and he still had not received his drink. It was a lot and I’ll say I’ll never come back again with a big party. It needs way more organization than what’s provided.

I received an email from Chris Eldridge on yesterday. Waiting to hear...
