Update 4/28: This place is jamming now. Two bars, stalls full. Shout out to the Jamaican jerk chicken place for some stupidly good chicken wings. My review is amended below.
A multi-ethnic public market-style eatery bazarre has come to the Westside. I thought this was another example of Midtown-envy, but it's totally not. Compared to Ponce Public Market, this is much less crowded, better food choices (especially for vegans), and a much more relaxed environment. Lets get into it:
Location/ambiance - great location right off Chattahoochee and Ellsworth Industrial. PLENTY of parking. Lots of outside seating, along with a mix of hybrid covered seating around the main bar. Inside, it's pretty standard public market fare. Lots of well-named food booths, nice post-modern eco-friendly decor. You can buy food from anywhere and sit anywhere to eat it. Four stars.
Food/drink: There are two bars. Inviting and fully stocked. Of the food booths present, there are lots of food options, including ethnic and vegan. Prices are steep, but these places are hitting their grove. The Jamaican jerk chicken place was deliriously good. Three stars.
Service: Obviously there's no wait staff at a place like this. The folks taking orders were varying levels of disengaged and on their cell phones. A few were friendly and chatty. Reminds me of mall kiosks. I do love that everyone has tap to pay. Two and a half stars.
X-factor: I LOVE their Pandora station. Totally dig it. The vibe is great. Not too busy, food comes out pretty fast, fellow customers are good to each other....
Read moreThis is specifically for the custom ramen and poké bowl station by flying fish because I can't find the store itself. This was the BEST ramen I have EVER eaten like goodness gracious. This ramen should've been blessed by the pope. The sodium in it gave me a headache, but BOY was it worth it. I had to physically restrain myself from eating all of it so I could have it when I get home. And the entire ride home I was daydreaming about this holy ramen. The moment I stepped foot in my house I RAN to the microwave and heated up my ramen. The first bite of this ramen made me elevate to a higher plane of existence. It was perfectly spicy, the chicken was DELICIOUS, the noodles chewy, then spring roots crunchy.... This review doesn't do this place enough glory. The ramen place should branch off and become a religion. You know that cartoon thing that they float in the air when they smell pie. That was me when I caught a whiff of this holy soup. When I accidentally spilled some of my soup in the microwave I screamed because I committed the sin of spilling the sacred soup. Please go to this ramen shop and buy this so you can join me in this high plane of existence.
I got the perfectly spicy, savory, spicy chicken ramen with a bottle of ramune, and chocolate pocky.
The actual place was cool too ngl. Lots to...
Read moreThis is a more hip (not hippie hip) Krog Street or Pounce City Market. There are many counter-service restaurants covering various cuisine. There is Thai, Indian, Soul, Cuban, Vietnamese, South African, Italian, Vegan, Dessert Bars, etc. Deciding what you want to it is a challenge as everything looks delicious. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. A full-service bar is situated at the center of the food hall. At least two restaurants have kombucha, and there is a bubble tea place. The bubble tea place is in the middle of the hall between the interior entrance and the bar (for those that have similar priorities as myself).
Several sit-down restaurants are in the immediate area. Along with a couple of craft breweries. You can certainly make a day of hopping around the various establishments.
The crowd is a good mix of people. The basic bishes have not taken over, yet. But there are good photo ops for the gram, so it’s just a matter of time. Plus, a third “Fetch” location is opening close by.
There’s not a lot of shopping, but many new stores and restaurants are being added to surrounding buildings.
A lot for free parking is in front of the hall. There is also a parking deck (uncertain whether or not it is...
