I want to start this review with all the great things about this place. First off, this place is amazing on the inside, with the space, the TVs, and projectors. It was a great place to watch the NBA playoffs.
I booked a reservation online (which I won’t lie, the website was kind of wonky; it could have just been my phone), and there’s a separate line for those with a reservation. I must say, every person was extremely friendly and helpful. This was my first time going, and everyone gave extremely clear instructions, and they moved very efficiently. I also loved how flexible the staff was.
Everything was great until… I followed the yellow line to go be seated for dinner. I gave the hostess my name, who told me they were cleaning a few tables and would be seating me shortly and suggested we grab a drink at the bar. Then she mentioned I would receive a text when it’s ready. My wife and I headed to the bar, and the line was a bit long, so it took us about 20 minutes to get our drinks (which includes a 20% gratuity, which is fine, but I wish that was detailed on the merchant copy of the receipt). Still no text, so we went to play connect four to finish our drinks.
After about another 20 minutes, I still didn’t have a text, so I walked up to the lady, and she told me we’re next. I said okay, no big deal. Another 30 minutes passed by, and we’re STILL not seated… and we are STARVING. I walked up back to the hostess stand, and I saw a party of 6 who just walked in, walk up to the front desk in front of me. They happened to know that same hostess that I’ve been dealing with all night, and she sat them immediately. At this point, I’m pissed. There happened to be a different hostess when I got to the front of the line, and I explained that I’ve been waiting for an hour for a seat, and her first question was “Were you on-time?” which I was, followed by “did you get a text,” and i replied “No, that’s why I’m here”… but she miraculously was able to find us a table.
I thought things were finally starting to take a turn. We ordered food. Our waiter, I can’t remember his name, was phenomenal. Super friendly, worked very quickly, knowledgeable. He was truly a bright spot of our experience. However, the food was TERRIBLE. We ordered the lamb ravioli, which was overly salty, but that wasn’t as bad as the brisket tacos. First off, they came out cold; they were extremely dry. The taco shell was stale and chewy. If I’m being honest, it tasted like they made these tacos last night, reheated them, and served them to us. Even the cider I ordered was warm. My poor waiter asked us if we were having a good experience, and I was honest with him. I hated the food. I ate it because I was starving and hadn’t eaten anything all day, and I had no plans to ask for a refund, but I needed him to know that this food isn’t good.
After dinner, we tried the games, but many were either malfunctioning or not working at all, leading to a disappointing end to the evening.
While this place has potential, particularly with its interior and staff, improvements are needed in dining operations, food quality, and game maintenance. Considering the overall experience, including the high cost for a limited menu, drinks, and games, I’m hesitant to return unless significant changes are made. If the food had been better, the games functional, and the dining experience smoother, my perception would...
Read moreI live very close to Your 3rd Spot, and this is the first time I've felt compelled to share a review. Most of my experiences have been 'so-so' with yesterday's visit being terrible. I invited 3 friends to join, and I am so happy I covered their entrance fee, as I would have been downright embarrassed if not.
Firstly, I just want to say that the staff was incredibly friendly, so I have nothing bad to say about the individual service throughout the establishment. This is not a personnel issue, rather, a venue issue.
For those that don't know, Your 3rd Spot is an adult hang out spot with bar games, arcade games, bowling and food/drinks, that has an entrance fee of about $25-$30 where you get access to most of the activities for 3 hours. Atlanta has a ton of places like this through the city, but this is one of the few that has an entrance fee (so must be top notch, right?).
I should have known better for a Saturday night, but it was unreasonably busy. You get 3 hours of game access, but a chunk of your time will be spent waiting in lines at the bar and waiting for games to open up. The venue itself doesn't have a ton of indoor hang out space, so the time in between will feel cramped, uncomfortable, and boring.
However, by far the most egregious thing of the night - The vast majority of games I tried are outright BROKEN! Paying $30 per person to get into a venue to play games, and being unable to play every available game you come across was incredibly annoying and I felt embarrassed I had recommended the experience to my friends from across town. Just to provide a list of games I can remember off the top of my head:
Top Floor Buck Hunter style game - 2nd gun didn't work. 1st gun technically worked but didn't aim at anything properly on screen. Unplayable.
NBA Jam - Player 2's shoot button didn't work so be prepared to just pass and turbo. Didn't check player 3/4
Games at the far end of curling didn't work for a few of the players (example. couldn't join as player 1).
Main Floor Darts - 2 out of the 4 digital dart boards didn't work Aliens gun game - Forget the name, there was no way to play. None of the buttons for player 1 or 2 allowed you to initiate a game X-Men Game - Couldn't move left or right for 2 characters. 2 others always moved to the right. Basically if you start the game, it's immediately unplayable Ninja Turtles - Donatello's attack didn't work at all. Didn't test the others. Unplayable.
A handful of other games just never let you start (like the Aliens game). You scan your card, hit the player 1/player 2 button when ready and nothing happens.
This is all I could remember off the top of my head, but I am certain there were more. I want to reiterate that this isn't some massive venue with 3,000 games. The above represents a reasonable chunk of the playing area of 2 floors, with the few popular games that do work having queues for 30 minutes.
All in all, the most fun we had was playing darts and just tracking our score on ourselves on our phone. Afterwards we went to a similar establishment not far away that has no entrance fee and found some great dartboards as well. I'd save your money.
Your 3rd Spot is quickly falling apart. Being fairly new, the machines feel like they've been around for decades. There already needs to be reinvestment back into the arcades/entertainment, as otherwise I don't see...
Read moreI had mixed feelings about this establishment, with some great aspects, some not-so-great ones, and a few outright disappointing moments. Let me break it down:
Reservation Experience I booked and paid for the reservation in advance, yet when I arrived, I was asked to pay again. Although I didn’t make a fuss, it felt unnecessary and poorly communicated. I had opted for the tasting experience plus dining, but the details of what this entailed weren’t clearly explained, which left us feeling a bit confused from the start.
Initial Impression When we got inside, we wanted to eat before participating in the activities. The staff directed us to find our reserved table, which was a positive—at least we had a spot ready for us. This was a first date with my now-girlfriend, and having that reserved space was appreciated.
Food The food was good, but unfortunately not great. For an establishment like this, I expected dishes that would leave us craving more. Since the portions were small (closer to appetizer-sized), we tried a variety:
Pork Belly Fried Rice: The rice itself was delicious, but the pork belly was overly greasy, and the fat and meat felt heavy rather than flavorful. Scallops: Decent, but nothing that stood out. Brisket Tacos: These were the highlight for my girlfriend. For me, the rice (without the pork belly) was the best part of the meal. The food didn’t leave us satisfied, and we ended up going somewhere else afterward. For a place of this caliber, I expected the dishes to be more enticing and fulfilling.
Drinks I don’t drink alcohol and made that clear when ordering, but we were still brought an extra alcoholic beverage “because they made too many.” While I appreciated the gesture, it ended up sitting on the table untouched, which felt wasteful and slightly awkward.
Activities and Atmosphere We arrived around 5 PM, and the gaming area was packed with kids. For someone like me, a video game collector, this was both exciting and overwhelming. While the games were fun, the sheer number of children made the experience less enjoyable. I would recommend going later in the evening to avoid the crowd. Additionally, I felt the game selection could use a modern twist—incorporating newer, more exclusive experiences that people might not have at home.
Overall Experience Despite the underwhelming food and crowded gaming area, it was still a fun outing. This establishment is a solid choice for a first date, especially if you aim for a later time when the atmosphere is likely calmer. However, there are areas for improvement:
Portion Sizes: The food left us wanting more, which wasn’t ideal for the price point. Staff Communication: First-timers would benefit from clearer guidance on the process. As someone passionate about food and gaming, this visit was an eye-opener, especially since I aspire to open a restaurant of my own one day. While I would recommend this place, it didn’t fully meet the high expectations I...
