Whit's Frozen Custard of Atlantic Beach — Restaurant in Atlantic Beach

I want to start this review saying that I love Whits. But tonight i waited in a very long line before it closed with my family after dinner. Due to the line being long, there was a line outside and a line inside. When someone came out the door i went in at 9:57PM. there wasn’t enough room for my family to stand inside with me, they waited in line and for more people to exit before the rest of my family could come in so we were separated by the door. At exactly 10, a short woman with short hair and glasses turned off the open sign and told the crowd outside that they ran out of ice cream. They were telling this to my family who was outside but i was inside. So i told the lady that they were with me and she turned to me and said i’m sorry then we cannot service you either then when we run out. I then told her well i’m in here right now why wouldn’t you be able to service me? I have been standing here and watched you turn off the open sign. She was saying this as people were still actively ordering and the people still making orders. The crowd who had been waiting were turned away by this young woman after we waited in line for over 20 minutes and she lied about being out of the ice cream and told us we could not be serviced. It was late i’m sure she was tired but choose a different shift to work if you cannot uphold customer service after a certain time. So we walked out and the person who was behind me and my family rushed in came out with ice cream so we were disappointed the lady working...

I like to take my wife and I there for a nice treat at the end of the week, and this place definitely hits the spot! The custard is super good, and isn't too expensive either! The only thing that dampens the whole experience is the staff. There's this one girl that works front counter and she is extremely unsavory to deal with. She never smiles, or talks or anything, and is usually always in a "bad mood". If you have questions about the menu then good luck, because they won't answer them. I'm not sure why the mood in there is so terrible, but it almost seems like no one likes working there. I don't know why, because it seems like an enjoyable atmosphere if you let it! This place would be 5 out of 5 stars if they fixed the unhappy staff issues. Especially when I brought my out of state friend here last week to try it, he had a couple of questions, and they didn't give him any answers. They just said, "idk get what sounds good". They are not helpful or nice at all and it doesn't make you feel welcomed or cared for. If this wasn't custard, I would probably do a pick up order or just not come here. I go here every time they have the German chocolate cake ice cream because it's the BOMB! I wish I could buy it by the pint lol. This place is in a perfect location, easy to walk to, and they offer so many flavors and options! The only reason it's not 5 stars is because the staff is biter like you are a bother for going there. The first time I went I was like okay maybe the girl at the register is having a bad day but the more I go which is usually Sunday, it's always the same girl and she is NOT happy. It's really awkward because it feels like shes mad at you. I'm not sure if the owners know but she definitely doesn't like her job and it isn't a pleasant experience when she is taking your order. She won't smile, talk, nothing. I hope this gets seen so they can fix her attitude or find a happier person to work the register to make it a pleasant visit.
