Imperial Inn — Restaurant in Atlantic City

My family and I have been enjoying the Imperial Inn for about 15 years. It is one of our favorite places. We live in the Vineland area and travel the 28 miles to eat there and then come home. There are times we frequent a couple times a month and then not visit for a bit.

The Imperial Inn is consistently one of the best restaurants in South Jersey.

When we want to impress company and they like real Chinese or just quality food, this is our go to restaurant.

The service has always been outstanding, the waiters attentive. They will answer any questions about ingredients or prep.

As with any establishment once in a while they are a little overwhelmed by the unexpected wave of customers beyond what is the norm. This has only happened a couple of times in the 15 years. Service and meals take a little longer as would be expected.

The food is authentic and delicious. Although they do offer General Tso’s Chicken, Moo Goo Gai Pan and similar fare, the vast majority of the extensive menu selections are authentic and ample.

It is not American Chinese.

I enjoy the broiled west coast fresh oysters with ginger and chives, as well as the ½ duck and just about anything off the menu. My wife likes the chicken and vegetables dishes.

They will also cook to order if you are clear on what you want. The seating is comfortable, the restaurant clean.

There is a lot of Asian cliental which to us is an indicator of the high quality. We have always felt comfortable....

My family decided they want Chinese food for dinner and when I googled this restaurant popped up first with a rating of 4.1 and it was close by so why not. We walked in and right away we were seated and the there was two couples already there so it wasn’t busy at all. We received the menus right away and waited a next 15 minutes for anyone to come back to us. Mind you it wasn’t busy at all but the old lady and the two servers were busy cleaning the tables and floor. We went over the over priced menu but nothing eye catching caught our eyes but we still stayed. Finally the old lady came over to take the orders and my mom wanted chicken wings she was told “ I have no chicken if you want chicken go to another restaurant “. We just ordered a large shrimp fried rice and that was it. The food was bland so I asked the girl for hot sauce she gave me chili pepper oil and said “we don’t have hot sauce”. Terrible food and service. Came in, the waitress was super rude and there were literally no customers. Should’ve took that as my cue to leave but I decided not to judge. I asked what were today’s specials and the waitress said “Please read the menu.” Both the waitresses were rude and dismissive, when we were literally their only customers. Honestly, I wouldn’t care if the customer service was bad if the food was good, but the food was terrible. I ordered the roast pork noodle soup, and it was so bad. The noodles tasted so undercooked and the pork was so sweet. Next, I tried the lo mein which was DISGUSTING. Immediately, when my mom and I tasted it, we thought it tasted weird. We smelled it and it spelled SPOILED. We immediately told our waitress and she didn’t even care, she just asked us what dish we want to replace it with. The combination casserole was the only thing half-decent on the menu. The sauce and scallops tasted weird, but the tofu was good.
