One star is too generous for this place. My family had absolutely the worst experience we've had in a restaurant in many years.

Now to be fair, it was parents weekend in Auburn so we expected lunch at any restaurant might take a little longer than usual.

We placed our order at the counter (as all patrons do) and received our ticket with the ticket number on it..ticket number 41. When we sat down we heard of the loudspeaker they called ticket number 21 or 22. Well, we were number 41 so I knew it might be a few minutes. Let's just say 50 minutes later, they were just on ticket 34-35. Yes that only turning about 14 tickets in nearly an hour. BTW, my daughter arrived about 15 minutes behind us so we had to place her order when she got there and her ticket number was 61. Many of you probably see where I'm going here, they're printing a lot of tickets, taking orders, but not a lot of progress coming out of the kitchen.

I proceeded to go speak with the person at the cash register and kindly asked for the manager. I was approached by one lady who absolutely seemed annoyed that I was even questioning why it was taking so long and then another guy came over and presented himself as the manager but he was visibly annoyed as well. I asked for owners information and he wouldn’t provide it. He simply said we're busy and turned around and walked off. Funny, before saying anything to anyone I simply walked up and observed kitchen, to be fair. One guy was too busy watching the game on TV facing kitchen and other guys were working at snail pace. One was the "manager". When I spoke with him, I shared my observations of the kitchen and particularly the one guy watching the game and he just did not care!

Now don't get me wrong, we eat out all the time and are completely sympathetic to labor issues many restaurants are facing. Also, I'm somewhat familiar with restaurant business, particularly BBQ. We eat at every BBQ restaurant in almost ever town we go to.. I also smoke a lot of meat myself......this is definitely a 1 star place!!!

An hour later we finally got our food on ticket 41, "to go" at this point because we had to be somewhere. My daughter (ticket 61) we just left, It wasn't worth going back to the counter and asking if we could get her barbecue sandwich to go with ours after our experience with the so-called "manager". She went to down street to get a sub instead.

On top of this, this is what our food looked like when we got to car. Hopefully photos came through. BBQ was very mediocre, the bread was bone dry and burnt, beans were actually good. The chicken looked disgusting!!! It was supposed to be pulled chicken. Fed that to dogs.

As you've read in other reviews, these people simply don't care about your business!!! Period. I'm actually being nice about how we felt we were treated by staff.

I normally wouldn't write such a negative review but after seeing how this staff handled our situation yesterday, figured I'd try and save someone else having to go through this. To be honest, I can usually get over so-so food if we receive good service but when you can't perform on either level....it's just bad! Read Yelp reviews, they seem more accurate.

Good opportunity for someone to open a good BBQ place downtown to serve good food and friendly service..,if I lived anywhere close I would.

Attached photos show how our food was packaged to go, this is what it looked like when we opened it outside of restaurant. No, even though it looks like it we didn’t eat have of the BBQ before...

Tasty food and a short time between ordering and receiving your food. If you go on Monday, don't miss the meatloaf special with greens and black eyed peas. I got the meatloaf sandwich, which was messy (the meatloaf was falling apart, a lot like bean burgers tend to) but juicy and flavorful--the meatloaf was wrapped in barbequed bacon, which is always a good idea. The greens were some of the best I've had at a restaurant (not pictured because I polished em off before I thought to take a photo), they were obviously fresh and crisp before being stewed in bacon and some tasty seasonings, and were lightly sweet. The black eyed peas were cooked with diced link sausage and diced okra (it appeared, but rest assured they weren't slimy in the least) along with the usual cajun trinity. My husband gave me his grilled cornbread, which was great as well, and he was happy with his chicken tenders, which he said were lightly breaded and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy meat on the inside. I also taste tested the mac and cheese (baked, not too juicy, lightly peppery), ribs (nothing to write home about, in my opinion, but I like mine falling off the bone and dripping with sauce) banana pudding (tasty but not enough Nilla wafers for my liking), and oreo pudding (rich, chocolaty, and moussey) from my group's plates (they offered, I promise...).

My one disappointment was that I thought that it would be nice if there was a trash can outside, or even if someone took our plates after we finished eating. We sat outside for about 20 minutes after eating and had to pin our napkins down under our plates to keep them from blowing away. I think they could place the trash can up on the deck to keep every passerby from tossing their own trash into it (which I understand is a nuisance). Just...

Hands down the best BBQ you can get in Montgomery!

We discovered Moe's by accident when driving through Daphne, AL to Fairhope. We were hungry but didn't want a burger. We saw the sign for Moe's and thought what the heck. We got our food and hit the road to finish our trip.

The BBQ sandwiches were stuffed with meat and were so good, that only 5 miles from our destination, we actually turned around and raced the 15 miles back up to Moe's to get another sandwich for later before they closed for the night.

From that point on we never made a trip down without stopping at least once to refresh the pallet and restate our wish that there was a Moe's in Montgomery.

While we were hoping for a Moe's of our own we tried many of the BBQ restaurants already here and tho many are good in their own way; we kept finding ourselves preferring Moe's Original. We would even plan trips to Auburn to include a meal at the Moe's there.

Long story short; try Moe's Original Barbecue and you will be spoiled for...

Good food and great ambiance. Really enjoyed the smoke wings. A little surprised they didn’t have brisket on the menu. I don’t know how they do it, but they’re just as crispy as fried. Was a little disappointed that they ran out of ribs at 6pm on a Sunday, but it is what it is. I enjoyed the shrimp poboy. My highlight was the mudslide desert.
