Yall. I've never been more invested too share my review! First of all ill address the lower ratings... If u read that is busy or closed or takes awhile to get your food, it's because this owner is operating alone and pouring the most amazing amount of care, love, and passion into what she does.
Now for the good stuff!
Yall, I found this place last minute at 705pm on a Wednesday knowing they would close at 730 but figured I would grab whatever was left- NO! The owner whom was operating 100% on her own was still handing out to go and drive thru orders while insisting i take my time and look over the menu because she cooks to order. The conversation as well as the effort she was putting into her buisness was amazing to get to experience all on its own. She insisted I try the catfish after learning I didn't have great experiences prior and asked me to sit while she cooked. While sippin on sweet tea and chatting while she cooked and attended to many customers she dropped a plate of collard greens, fried catfish, potato salad, and corn bread on my table and resumed working. To tell you it was the best thing I've ever eaten in my life would be an understament. Yall my mind warped as I was having flashbacks of being in my grandmother's kitchen as a kid. Then she dropped a huge plate of chicken and rolls. The fried catfish and chicken were to DIE for. The breading is crisp and soft at the same time. The seasoning in the breading is very much there in every bite. The collard greens could have been my entire meal as the were cooked and seasoned perfectly in the juices with beef. Cornbread was on point. Potato salad was better than grandma's.
If you ever find yourself wanting to experience your Southern roots or travel back in time to when things were good... this is the place. The owner cooks with love and experience and lives to please her customers. I will be back everytime I'm in town and look forward to being a long...
Read moreI ordered snapper and chips to go and when I got back and opened up my order there was no chips (fries) so I called basically to see if I could get some or just credit me for them on the next time I made an order because by the time I got back down there the fish would have been cold but when I called a kid answered and instead of just saying I’ll get them ready for you he said his mom would have to call me back in 5 min because she was gone! I was irritated but said ok, I called back 3 times in 45 min and it goes directly to voicemail...GRRR, 1-1/2 hr goes by and I call again and the kid answer again and has no idea how to fix my problem and can’t make an easy common sense decision because his mom is still gone, of course by this time I’ve eaten what I had I wasn’t going to wait for this kid to figure things out!! Being a business owner myself I know good help is hard to find especially when it comes to FAMILY!! The lady that owns the place is great, if I could have gotten ahold of her I’m sure I would have...
Read moreWe have always driven by this place on the way to the dentist and decided to try it today. The one woman working here today was friendly and worked hard getting us our food as quick as she could but she was working alone. I would not recommend this place if you have a short lunch to grab a bite. The prices were higher than expected but not totally unreasonable. Everything was cook well and the textures we're perfect. I had the catfish and my son had the pulled pork sandwich with hush puppies. The best part about the meal was the pork although I prefer to add my own sauce it was still tasty and tender. What brought our rating down was the catfish. The fish was cooked perfectly but the cornmeal breading was very stale which made it taste a little off. The hush puppies were bland and missing some spice but again the overall texture was good and fried just right. I wish I could give more stars but the fish really brought that down I will be back late November and might give it...
