I'm extremely disappointed to write this review but was left no choice in how we were treated at Laziza. My Husband and I came into the restaurant excited to try the restaurant for the first time after passing it many times. We ordered two wrap meals, paid via the kiosk by credit card and were given a number to wait. Another family came in about 10 mins into our wait and after about 25 mins the other family was served. After asking the cashier the status of our order she mentioned she couldnt find the order in the system. She proceeds to get her front mgr who also looked and couldnt find it. The front mgr then asked for our receipt. We explained we didn't select a receipt at the kiosk. However we showed him our bank stmt that showed the charge to Laziza. The cashier also confirmed the took our order. He then proceeded to argue that he could not refund us and it was our fault that we didnt keep the receipt and he had thousands of customers and its not his fault we didnt opt for a receipt. We stated your system should've registered our order and we can show you the charge. He then very rudely told my Husband and I to only speak one at a time and was very nasty in response to us being upset that he was blaming his inability to issue a refund. At that point the chef who heard the exchange apologized and tried to make it right for us as he understood the order was put in incorrectly, but it was too late. I lost my appetite. I have never been treated so rudely for an error made on the part of the restaurant. I will never patronize or recommend this...
Read moreWent here on a quiet Monday evening. There weren't many restaurants open but none seemed especially busy either. Laziza had a few customers inside. They were doing good take-out business and their maybe 8 tables outside were full. Counter service was good, personable, and efficient and it was clean inside.
I had lentil soup. It was a good portion for just over $5 - more of a bowl than a cup. I would've preferred a tad less cumin but it wasn't at all overwhelming. The soup was flavorful and had carrots and a little bit of mostly dissolved rice. The rice was actually a really nice addition. The soup was hot and stayed plenty warm throughout the meal.
My spouse had the mixed grill platter that I tried. The chicken shawarma was good, chicken kabob just meh - a little dry, and the kefta kabob was very good with a nice charred taste but not at all dry. They call it beef kabob but it's not cubes - it's the ground kefta.
The platter came with rice that was meh, basic pita, a couple of sauces that were not bad but were unidentifiable. One was supposed to be tzatziki. They were both white with a bit of tang. One was too loose and the other was sort of like whipped butter but not greasy. The side was mixed vegetables that were mostly eggplant with some feta on top.
Overall, this was a good experience - tasty food, good value, good service. I'd go here again but doubt it would be a regular hangout. Next time I'll try the gyro. Given the success of the kefta kabob I think they'll do a decent job. I'd recommend...
Read moreThanks to Wyatt for his excellent service, and I would absolutely rate him five stars. Food was also five stars: delicious and beautiful. But I’ll never come back to this restaurant because of something absolutely nasty and disgusting I witnessed and felt traumatized by… Some health-hazardous practices!
The first person I encountered was S; she was cleaning with a long broom as I was walking in, and the broom was black dirty when it was lifted up, as S carried that thing like a flag around me into the FOOD SERVICE AREA BEHIND THE BAR with all that dirt being spread all over the surfaces of the restaurant, then with her bare hands S took the dirty bottom part of the broom, did whatever… then without washing her hands, S grabbed her drink, touched the cash register, and all this RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES, as I stood there speechless ready to vomit.
I felt shocked! This was beyond my comprehension. Such health-hazardous practices put people in danger.
I had to tell S to wash her hands.
It was a horrific experience to witness her do all that and it was apparent to me that this was her regular routine and completely “normal.”
Considering what I saw, no no no…
I don’t recommend eating here because these non-hygienic practices are health-hazardous!
She was NOT WEARING ANY GLOVES WHILE CLEANING AND TOUCHING THE BOTTOM OF THE USED DIRTY BROOM WITH HER BARE HANDS, the same hands with which she then touched EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE FOOD...
