I'm usually in the Common for the yearly Augusta Pride festival. I'm always amazed how they pull off such a great event each year. I know the Augusta Pride President personally and I see how hard she works to put on a great event. It is to be witnessed at least once in your life. The event is lively and full of entertainment!!! There are several vendors there with great products and yummy foods and drinks!!! The only downside about it is that is in the beginning of Summer when the sun is in full blaze, but they do put up a tent so you can cool off under but this year there were no chairs so you had to bring your own or sit on the ground, which was wet!!!! The greenspace itself is open so it isn't as pleasant when the sun is glaring down but it has nice shade on the perimeter and some benches. I think the Oglethorpe statue smack in the middle is unnecessary, but overall it is a nice space for festivals and events, etc. It is a nice touch for it to be right across from the James Brown Statue and parking wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Now, I have to admit.... I absolutely love other cities and their downtown ambiance (Greenville, SC Atlanta, GA Charlotte, NC Charleston, SC Savannah, GA etc).
