I frequent different coffee shops wherever I go, and finding a decent one in/near Aurora has been a struggle. My wife and I were in the area when we tried Carbon for the first time, today.
It was well-reviewed, and the place looked legit once I entered; I could tell they took their coffee seriously, and I started getting interested. I started looking around at their offerings and saw a breakfast danish, which I had never heard of before, so I asked about it and the barista and I started a dialogue. I saw the price was a bit high, and asked if they could give me a discount to encourage me trying it. He said they can't, so I asked if the manager was around, and he said he was the manager. So I, wanting to bargain and negotiate a mutually beneficial deal, said something a little aggressive: "So you can, you're just choosing not to." To which he replied, "That's not how it works." Clearly aware that he has no idea what he's talking about and sensing him growing in agitation, I stop pushing and decide to just get a coffee. I try to be friendly and sort of make amends for my rude comment without directly addressing it. My wife orders their signature latte and I got a cortado. When her latte came out it looked beautiful and tasted great--I was getting excited! Then I got my cortado, and unlike my wife's beautiful flower painted in cream over the froth, mine bore a special image. I was aghast to discover that the barista/manager had the audacity create a crude image of male privates on my froth! Immediately, I was afraid of what else he might have done to it, so I later threw it away without tasting.
It took me awhile to really understand what transpired, as this has never happened before. I simply cannot believe that a manager would treat a customer this way after something so insignificant. I used to work in food service, so I hate being a "bad customer" but this is not how you deal with them.
To the manager: Speak up. Smile. Try to make the customer feel comfortable. Occasionally throw in deals to make returning, lasting fans.
To the owner: I'm hoping this is nepotism, cause I have no conceivable notion as to why you would promote someone like that. They need training--badly.
To the customer: Coffee tasted good. Go in, get your stuff, and get out. Don't say anything that might be taken poorly, or you could end up with your food...
Read moreI was in Denver during the Summer and stayed at the connected hotel. When we got to the hotel and saw that we were over a coffee shop, I just had to look at the menu and boy was I impressed! I love matchas and knew Denver had to be coming hard with the creative drinks but Carbon really surprised me! The next morning I went down and asked Angel what her 4 favorite matchas were since I couldn't decide. She recommened the Taro Matcha, Banana Cream Matcha, Strawberry Matcha, and the Coconut Pandan Matcha (all with oatmilk) and they were all sooo buss guys, I can't stress this enough. The next day, of course we went back and I was undecided again - at this point I just wanted to try as much as possible - so I ordered the Kinako Hojicha latte with oatmilk and a cinnamon coffee cake. It was my first time trying Hojicha so I didn't know what to expect but it was so warm feeling and tasted like toasted black sesame seeds. It was amazing and the coffee cake was nice and fresh as well. On my last day, I had the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha with oatmilk. I never thought to add mango syrup to my matcha but I think I just might start.
Carbon had such amazing customer service and everything I tried was 10/10. I live in Oklahoma where there aren't many coffee shops on this caliber, so I'm missing it more than you could imagine! I plan on making some syrups and maybe recreating a few matcha at home but nothing has beaten Carbon coffee! I think about these drinks everyday, please come...
Read moreAs part of my goal this year to try 50 new coffee shops, I found myself at Carbon Coffee, and it did not disappoint! I was in need of a caffeine fix and a last-minute meeting spot, making this the perfect choice.
Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by the barista, who was incredibly helpful with the menu. Their friendly demeanor set a positive tone for my visit.
I ordered the Coconut Pandan Latte, and it was fantastic! The balance was just right--not too strong and not overly sweet, making it a delightful treat to enjoy while I worked. I also tried the Bacon Burrito, which was delicious and quite filling. It paired perfectly with my latte and made for a satisfying meal.
The decor of the coffee shop was charming, and the music they played created a relaxed atmosphere that I loved. It felt like an inviting space to unwind and be productive.
I will definitely be returning to Carbon Coffee for future remote work sessions or client meetings. This place has quickly become one of my favorites, and I can't wait to explore more...
