My husband and I have been regular customers at El Chubby's, 1191 S Abilene St, Aurora, CO location. The food has consistently been delicious! THEIR FOOD IS FRESHLY-MADE, with the convenience of a drive-thru! And until last night, we would've rated them with 5-Stars. That said, this review would've been a 2-Star rating-- if it weren't for the great food. Please understand!: If you want "fast food" that is pre-made and patiently shriveling, while waiting under a heat-lamp for someone to order it...choose a different restaurant! People, please!! El Chubby's is NOT A FAST-FOOD RESTAURANT. Period. We choose El Chubby's KNOWING it will TAKE TIME to FRESHLY prepare our meals, don't mind waiting, and plan accordingly. However, the overwhelming-negative feed-back they've received, regarding the drive-thru wait-times... sadly has altered what they do and who they have always been. They are now taking everyone's payment at the drive-thru window and asking them to pull around to the parking lot to wait... like many fast-food drive-thrus!!! Watching the confusing dance of getting orders to the correct vehicle IS NOT EL CHUBBY"S. I repeat: This is NOT a fast-food restaurant! Holding us and our money hostage in the parking lot is unacceptable! Unfortunately, it seems like society has forever lost the kindergarten-lesson of Waiting-Their-Turn-In-Line. We hope this new procedure does not remain a permanent one. It would be with a frustratingly heavy heart, that we choose to go elsewhere in order to enjoy our experience, without feeling rushed through like branded cattle. It has to be said, that we DO understand that El Chubby's is facing the huge challenge of trying please everyone as best as they can. Please join us also, in understanding: that our entire nation is struggling to employ people in so many areas... in order to serve us. WE ALL NEED TO SHOW PATIENCE AND GRACE TO ONE ANTOHER, in Love. For now.. maybe we'll see you in the...
Read moreLove the food here. I would rate them a 5 if it weren't for 2 factors. The staff and the wait time. The staff is not friendly, they don't generally greet you politely and if you happen to lock eyes they don't smile and acknowledge you. In fact, I don't think I have ever seen any of them smile. The environment is a combination of depression and rage. The environment is a product of emotions being projected by staff. The one exception is the gentleman always taking orders and working the window. He is energetic, polite, and has a great sense of customer service. He brings the light into the building. A bit of a morale boost and a little process improvement would fix both issues in the establishment. The wait time isn't as big a deal. They are making it fresh but there is a lot of confusion amongst staff which I watched today prove itself to be a contributing factor to my wait time. All in all nothing BAD to say about the place. The food is worth the wait and hey, there's always room for improvement. I would advise going in to place the order. Even though you'll feel like you're walking into a world of depressed souls, its much better than being stuck in the drive through for 30 minutes. I had spiders raining from the tree in their drive through, down onto my car on more than one occasion. That's a bummer and the rest of the wait involves the wife searching the vehicle paranoid one had gotten into the car. No joke. It adds to my lack of desire to roll through the drive through. Enjoy the food but don't count on a pleasant environment. Good luck in the drive...
Read moreHere's my thing, first time I went. Maybe if I had gotten something different I would have liked it more. I'm not sure though. The style and the sound of things are very good, the decor could use a little upgrade, don't get me wrong the traditional Mexican decor is great, don't take away from that but at least modernize the tiles on the floor. The bathrooms were very awkward as to say, I again have never been here until today so I don't know if it's the same for all Chubby's restaurants or if it is different depending on Manger and location. Also, in my opinion I think it seems a little desperate for reviews if the marketing manager or some superior power in the shop comes up to the customer BEFORE they get their food to ask for a review of how the customer likes everything. Aren't reviews like this one supposed to be based on the whole experience AFTER the food, the atmosphere, and the experience of the employees? I also understand it is supposed to be a concept of "fast Mexican food" but the food was mediocre. My mother and I have had better. The employees (what we encountered) were friendly and did their job well. It was busy, but we got our food in decent amount of time. I think I expected a lot, just because everyone I talked to said it was the most amazing Mexican food you could get...
