My husband, 2 daughters and myself came to Amy's Ice Cream to get ice cream. My husband walked in with our double stroller first, I was holding the door behind him for others to walk out. (Normally I go in by myself) I had both masks in my purse and was trying to pull them out while holding the door. An employee said "Do you have a mask?" My husband said "yes, my wife has them." (Mind you, there were others that did not have masks on waiting in the line closer to the bathroom) He then said "sorry, we are just getting some waffle pieces... tried to continue to say "I apologize". The employee then said very rudly "I asked if you had a mask" She clearly was not listening to what my husband said. I am all for wearing masks and that was our fault for not having it on when we walked in but the way we were spoke to was not ok. We have a weekly tradition of coming to walk up & down Congress every Saturday night as a family and it's been a staple to stop for waffle pieces along our walk. It was very disappointing to be kind of hit with that encounter. Unfortunately because of that we will not be returning. I believe everyone has bad days but projecting your bad day onto to others does not help. Thank you for the memories we had prior to tonight. Hopefully the employee doesn't make others feel this way over a...
Read moreI went to Amy's when I was visiting Austin (from Buffalo, NY) and WOW, I don't think I've had better ice cream in my life. Since returning home I have been testing all the ice cream parlors in Buffalo looking for one that compares and I'm sad to say that nothing even comes close. I ordered a couple big scoops Mexican Vanilla in a waffle cone. I did 3 "mix-ins" cookie dough, brownie, and chopped pecans. I didn't know what to expect, so i was very surprised when they put a large chunk of cookie dough and a brownie on top of the ice cream and started to fold it all into a custom flavor. It was perfect! Usually I suffer slowly through the ice cream waiting for another piece of cookie dough to come along, but at Amy's the cookie dough and brownie was perfectly distributed into a wonderful homogeneous concoction of tasty goodness. My girlfriend got obscure movie quote correct. (Luckily she had just been watching Eric Brockovich the week before (weirdo)).
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone within 4 to 6 hours drive of Austin, definitely worth the...
Read moreTonight I finally visited this local ice cream shop and I must say, I had an amazing experience! From the moment I walked up to the window, I was greeted by a friendly staff member named Zorina who immediately made me feel welcome. She was incredibly knowledgeable about all of the flavors and toppings available and gave me some fantastic recommendations.
I ended up trying a flavor combination that Zorina suggested and it was absolutely delicious. The ice cream was creamy, rich and had the perfect balance of sweetness. The folded in toppings were fresh and added the perfect amount of crunch and texture.
The atmosphere of the shop was also electric. Definitely wanted to sit out on south congress and order a second cone.
Overall, I would highly recommend this ice cream shop to anyone looking for a delicious and enjoyable dessert experience. The staff, especially Zorina, went above and beyond to make my visit memorable and I can't wait to go back and try more of their...
