Don't come here unless you can handle the possibility of having your night randomly and rudely ruined.
I've gone probably 6 different times to Cap City with my girlfriend. We normally purchase the slightly pricier reserved seats, and the talent is okay to good depending on your luck. Overall the comedy is acceptable and worth the money. Two drink minimum is fine, although I'd probably just prefer they charge slightly more and have no minimum.
That said, I will never be going back because tonight for some inexplicable reason a man who works there decided to treat myself and my girlfriend who are quietly on a date totally disrespectfully. I'm not sure who he was, because he never introduced himself.
We sat down at our seats at the beginning of the show and things were fine, about 10 minutes in a random voice barks in my ear to "put the table back it can't stick out in the aisle." We are confused but try to pull the table back out of the aisle, it's not clear what the problem is exactly - but he yelled it and stormed off. Fast forward an hour to the head liner coming on and again I get a random bark into my ear "I told you to put that table back the way you found it." I turn to ask him what he means and he's already stormed off again, so again we pull it back in an inch or so - but we're pressed up against a wall so it doesn't seem to even make sense. 5 minutes later a tap on my arm...I look over and it's an older angry looking man who makes a "come-here" motion with his finger. I just ignore him because I'm feeling totally disrespected and I'm just a quiet patron not harming anyone (We're basically dream customers, quiet and order a few drinks and tip well then leave). 30 seconds later he comes over and yells come with me.
I walk outside into the hallway and he just starts yelling about having asked us to move the table back. I've never been treated like that before - really anywhere. It was so disrespectful it was literally bewildering. He just barked at us, I don't even know if he was a bell boy or the owner! I lost it at that point and my girlfriend was on the same page - we walked out. Right when the show was actually getting funny as the headliner was starting.
I don't know if this is normal, but I've gone to the paramount a few times for comedy shows and I frequent the hideout - and both of these establishments have always treated me with respect , there has never been an issue. For some reason capital city comedy club feels like it does not need to treat it's customers with any respect - or even make sense. Lesson learned, I'll be going elsewhere for my giggles - the location was always a bit of a...
Read moreWas visiting Austin with my lady and came here for a last minute “something to do”. I read tons of reviews first, so my expectations were set. Location was great and easy to find. The Domain is insanely nice and ritzy. Parking was easy (we parked in the pink garage). The walk from the pink garage to the club was simple and quick. Entry was effortless. We arrived early and pretty much had any pick of seats we wanted. We sat in the back where the seats were more like booths with padded backs (all of the seats had padded bottoms). I don’t believe there’d be a bad seat in the house though honestly. Seemed to be a good view from anywhere in the room (I didn’t venture up to the balcony so can’t speak for those).
There is a 2 item minimum per person, but we knew that already and had no problem with it. I ordered two draft Dos Equis which were nice and cold, and my lady ordered a Fiji water and an order of fried mozzarella with marinara. We were expecting the worst with the food because of the reviews, but they exceeded our expectations. Not GREAT, but not terrible by any means. Tasted about like cheese sticks from Sonic.
I read several reviews that claimed the sound was awful and that you could hardly hear/understand what the comic is saying. We did not have this issue whatsoever. Idk if it depends on where you sit or the comics voice, but we were able to clearly make out every word with no issues. The wait staff was beyond friendly and was quick and accommodating. The other folks in the room were friendly and courteous. Not a rude soul in the house.
Both openers were funny and Leslie Liao put on a great show. Very entertaining. All in all, the whole show lasted about a hour and a half. There were two shows for the evening and we went to the earlier one at 7pm.
Great vibes here. No regrets. I easily give this place five stars and will 1000% return again on...
Read moreNot for me. Ticket said general seating, arrived in time to get a good seat, was seated in the back corner under the exit light, couldn’t see the front of the stage, only the side of the performer, asked for a different seat. The greeter ignored my request.. hot but present I took my seat. Assumed I got the trash seat because I was a party of one. Five minutes later, a white woman comes in by herself and gets seated second row from the stage.Ok. Under quiet protest, I refused to buy the required two items from the menu, which would’ve cost approximately 24-ish dollars. Had tickets for two shows. When I came in the person failed to tell me the two shows were in two different rooms. He did say “there are two shows. I don’t know how you’re going to manage that” curious statement at the time but it did not register. As I waited for the next show to start everyone bustled around me and never inquired why I was still sitting there, so I walked up to one of the staff members and told him I have a ticket for a show that starts at eight. His response was “I guess you’re out of luck because it’s 8:40 and we don’t give refunds. In my commercial litigator voice, I told him “You are confused, that may be how it works for you, but that’s not about to happen tonight, so you find a manager or someone I can speak with regarding this matter.” His response was, I believe the headliner just entered the stage so you may be able to catch the performance, as he pointed to a set of stairs….crickets… I asked him, are you going to show me where this show is and walk me up?? so he did, I watched the show, the performer was good. In the future I will save my money for a venue where all...
