Worst Steak House Experience Ever. Reservations for 8:00 didn't get seated till 8:50. We were asked if we want our Ribeye seared. I've never been asked that before, especially at a steak house. We both ordered our Ribeye's Med Rare. They were both over cooked. We were not asked to cut the steak prior to eating. Once we cut into the steaks, WOW...they were tough, dry and burnt. We both figured we had made the mistake of saying YES to seared steaks. Shouldn't you just make the steak the best you can? After all you are a steak house. Just weird question. By this time of eating our steaks- we were tired, hungry and didn't want to deal with having to complain and wait longer for new food. We've been to just about every steak house in Austin so we thought we'd drive North to try Fleming's. Worst idea ever. We even left a whole steak between the both of us. NEVER have we left beef on our plates before-lol. The beef was the worst quality of meat I've ever had. For $50.00 a steak we got ripped off. We will never go back there again. I am also letting people know how terrible the steaks were and our service. So...the service. We finally sit down after waiting almost an hour (with reservations made) our waiter literally pokes his head in on my side of the booth and asked me what I'd like to drink. Completely ignores my husband and walks away. We couldn't believe it. Then he comes back like 7 minutes later and ask me again because he forgot what I wanted. As he walks away I had to get his attention by raising my voice and telling him that my husband would like to order a drink as well. Unfreaking believable. For the prices that one pays at this place you'd think the guy would come over introduce himself, acknowledge both of us and tell us what the special of the night is. Never heard what it was by the way. I normally don't take the time to review BUT I had to this time because I just can't believe the experience we had that night. We didn't want to complain to the manager because it was suppose to be our Valentine Dinner/evening out and we just felt we didn't need the stress or negativity that night. We were very disappointed and will never go back. Don't waste your time or money there. There are so many fine dining steak houses around Austin you can go to, enjoy a great meal, atmosphere and 5 star service.

I'm of the opinion that you can get really good food at most places. But you cannot find good service everywhere. And thus, good service is the true differentiator between good restaurants and great restaurants. I've dined at Fleming's at the Domain twice, where both times my husband and I were waited by Joshua. And the food was just excellent. Our meal on Friday night started with craft seasonal cocktails and an unlimited bread selection, followed by the tuna and avocado appetizer, followed by the chef’s special surf and turf, followed by a banana’s foster dessert. All of the food was delicious. The bread was warm and fluffy, accompanied by two cheesy butters to satisfy both savory (buttery, salty) palates and sweet palates (sweet potato and cinnamon flavored). The tuna and avocado appetizer was sufficiently balanced with a red chili kick. The steak was phenomenal - beautifully cooked and flavorful. And the bananas foster was like a live art installation. Presented tableside with fire to caramelize the sugars. The food was plain delicious. I give it 5 stars. But, even better than the food was the service. Josh went out of his way to make my and my husband’s date night truly special. Supposedly there was some “dinner wine” event earlier and there was extra wine on hand from the event, so in between our entree and dessert, he brought us a delicious cabernet and described every detail of it in a way that only a well-trained wine connoisseur could. As it turns out, he is a level 2 (?) sommelier, and was able to talk to us a LOT about wine. It was fun, engaging, and world-opening. I appreciate the time Joshua took to share us a bit about his passion for wine, and make us feel welcomed at the restaurant. On top of the amazing service and food, Fleming’s is one of very few fine dining restaurants in Austin that has deals. If you go to Costco, you will be able to purchase a $100 gift card for $80. Fleming’s email list also provides this same opportunity on occasion. So, you can get a deal there as well, as long as you prepare in advance. Thanks to Josh (and the food)!, we will definitely be back at Fleming’s for another date night.

I have eaten at Flemings over a dozen times and generally it's a fine steakhouse. I've been to all the well known steakhouses in the area and Vince Young is my favorite. Today's review reflects our Vday 2020 experience. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and met our waiter Travis. We opted for the $200 surf and turf meal for two. The meal includes a set starter, salad, entree, and dessert. We received our starter with bread and it was a crab mix on top of a potato chip topped with caviar. It was light, crisp, and refreshing. Shortly after we received a salad that was topped with thinly sliced pears, walnuts, and pomegranates. The pomegranates were a strange addition as the seeds make for and awkward predicament. After the salads were off the table it was about a twenty to twenty-five minute wait for our entree, longer than we anticipated. The entree of a 35 ounce Tomahawk steak, a lobster tail, and two crab stuff shrimp arrived. We opted to add a side of sauteed mushrooms. I've done several Tomahawk Tuesday's at Flemings and the steak ussually comes pre-sliced. It's very awkward when you have all the items on the plate and you are attempting to slice a large steak with an 18 inch bone sliding around. We ate a fair portion and asked to have the rest boxed. Travis came by and dropped off a dessert menu. When he came back he asked if we picked anything off the dessert menu. I asked him if the set prix fixe menu included Cheesecake and he said he could add it on to the total. I asked him to clarify and he said he would include it. We were provided with a slice of cheesecake to share. Not a super big deal, but from how the menu reads it should have come with two. The main disappointment was how rushed everything felt (minus the wait for the entree). Some of the waitstaff was about 5 feet away complaining about some of the patrons. It didn't seem very personal or special for dropping $300.

Hands down this Flemming's location had to be the worst restaurant I have ever dined at. I made a birthday reservation weeks in advance for nine people at 8 PM. I arrive close to 15 minutes before my reservation time and checked in. We were not seated until 8:40 PM. Every time I asked to be seated, I was told my table was being prepared as they continued to let other parties be seated who came after us with a reservation time of 8:30 PM. Once we were finally seated, a manager came over and apologize for the wait as she offered us two complementary appetizers. Those appetizers never came. when we finally brought it to the waiters attention about 20 to 30 minutes from us placing the order because she wasn't very attentive and rarely checked on us. She said she would check on the status of our appetizers. By then a member of our table pulled a manger aside and explained the situation letting him know we were unhappy with the service and what we have experienced. After about 50 minutes of seating with no appetizers and no food other than the bread our entrées were being brought to the table. Everyone received their food besides my boyfriend who was the birthday boy and was the first one to place his order. Another 10 minutes passed by and the waiter approaches him and confirm he never got his food. She then asked what he had ordered again as if she didn't write it down the first time. At this point he’s already very frustrated and hungry. He said he no longer want his food and everyone at the table agreed to just leave. We asked for the check and was told some items would be taking off the check. Once all parties received their check nothing was taking off. Only items where removed from my bill because I was the host and my boyfriend never received his food to begin with. They ended up making his food to go on the house and still got his order wrong. I asked for the corporate number because I’m definitely bubbling this situation up. I would hate to think we received this terrible service due to the color of our skin but the perception this restaurant was given I felt like that was definitely the case. This restaurant was recommended to me by a coworker as a great place to dine for a special occasion, and I am highly disappointed. You have to do better Fleming’s. You have ruined someone’s special day and that...

It WAS a great place to have a great night out, but the quality and service has become subpar and living on it's name and location at this point. We decided to come to Fleming's to celebrate both myself and father's birthday, and we have had great experiences in the past. In all honesty it was fine.... that is till the food came out. I ordered the NY Strip medium rare, and my wife ordered the Ribeye medium, both of which came out disappointing. Mine came out very medium well and Her’s came out medium rare. Along with that, the ribeye was choice grade steak, at best as it had, without exaggeration, a 3” fat pocket. Basically equivalent to what you could pick up at the local HEB, and nothing representative of what this establishment claims to serve in regards to quality. When the two errors were pointed out to the waitress, she very willingly and nicely worked to make things right. That’s when the night turned for the worse. The GM came to the table to do what I assumed would be the typical apology and we’ll get another one out right away, but instead he took another approach. He began to try and explain the differences in between medium and medium rare, and did she know what she was ordering. Basically, putting it on her ignorance that she wasn’t aware of what she was ordering in an extremely condescending way. Then, when my steak came out, it was again medium at best, in which the GM brushed it off with a , sir we cook it to a perfect 135* and walked off never to return. We are all grillers and smokers in the family, and I can tell you with confidence it was medium to medium well at best (outside to pretty much the middle middle of the steak was cooked through with NO pink) …. Again. So, like with anything, an establishment is run only as good as the top down, and if this GM is who’s in charge and setting the tone, I’d be willing to bet they are losing more loyal customers than gaining with the pompous attitude shown. There’s way too many establishments that have considerably better customer service and quality food (Perry’s and Paul Martin’s to be specific) within walking distance for us to go back. Sad really as we did enjoy it, but most likely this will be...
