I used to love freewheelin’! I’ve been going ever since they opened the airstream at their OG location a couple of years ago, all the baristas were so nice, it was quick and overall consistently great drinks. But ever since they moved across the street into a new truck, it hasn’t been the same. The past couple times i’ve gone it’s been disappointing, the drink quality has gone down, they almost taste watered down, the baristas are rude, and the wait has been longer. I kept going despite all this because they’re my favorite but after what happened the last time I will never be going back. The barista who took my order was rude and apathetic, I waited more than 10 mins for my drink, and then the barista didn’t call my name out initially— I saw a latte sitting on the ledge of the truck and assumed it was someone else’s, but then she started calling out my name (Teresa), but it sounded like she was trying to pronounce “terrorist” she kept saying “terro… terris… terist” until I caught on that she was actually trying to say my name (which is not hard to pronounce), I rushed up to grab my latte just so she would stop yelling “terrorist” in public — SO EMBARRASSING. I ran away feeling humiliated and of course my drink tasted watered down. Absolutely ridiculous, I will never be going back to freewheelin’,...

I ordered two iced coffees and two small breakfast sandwiches to go. The total came to $46.50 — which didn’t add up. When I asked for a breakdown, staff explained, “Oh, that’s because of the automatic tip — we add 20% on orders over $25.”
No menu signage, no verbal heads-up, nothing. When I asked if the charge could be adjusted, I was flat-out told no. I canceled half the order as a result. For a counter-service truck selling breakfast sandwiches and coffee, a surprise $8+ gratuity is absurd.
This isn’t just poor customer service — it’s sketchy and potentially illegal, as businesses are generally required to disclose automatic service charges upfront. The coffee was fine, but I won’t be returning. There are plenty of coffee shops in Austin that are transparent and don’t surprise customers with...
Read moreI’ve been a freewheelin Coffee enthusiast for 2 years but ever since they switch from the Air Stream location to the new food truck location, I’ve noticed the food and drink quality go down and the prices go up. Past few times I’ve gone, the coffee taste more watered down and OG service is not the same. Today I went for a pumpkin spiced latte w/ cold foam that was $8 (wild price for a latte), but when I got the order there was no cold foam and I asked “wasn’t this supposed to have cold foam” and was told “oh we don’t have it.” I had paid for the full drink (again $8 which is insane) so to hear that they couldn’t make it but charged me for it was not so great to hear. I hope they can make the necessary changes to be better. Love this place and want to continue to recommend it to everyone - but the new location makes it a...
