This is an Airstream coffeeshop located in East Austin with signature lattes and a seasonal menu. All flavors are made in house and they use locally roasted coffee. I appreciated how much the flavors shine through in the lattes and they are not too sweet. I tried some seasonal items too like the strawberry matcha latte and pistachio affogato. Their summer menu will be available until beginning of September, then keep an eye out for some fun items coming for fall. It's clear how passionate they are while creating their menu. Talk with the owner and the crew and you’ll sense genuine passion and pride in their craft. Other perks- kolaches baked fresh daily, milk alternatives available, free parking lot, patio seating. Super pet friendly too!

I’m not the biggest fan of coffee, so discovering that this coffee food truck could make any of their latte flavor options into a matcha latte was an amazing find. I decided to try the miso caramel matcha latte, and it was the best thing I’ve ever tasted. I’ve tried miso in a drink at another place and and it was awful, but somehow Freewheelin' gets it just right. They create the perfect balance of umami and sweet, crafting a symphony of flavors in your mouth. It smells and tastes similar to miso soup, but in a way that’s incredibly delicious, not off-putting. I think that’s what makes it so amazing—how they’ve turned something unexpected into something extraordinary. Now I feel I have to try all their flavors!

We ordered a cold brew, an iced caramel latte with oat milk, and an iced Honey Ginger Cinnamon latte. The flavors were delicious and all house made. We also ordered two Kolaches, blueberry and goat cheese, and the other was similar to a chicken pot pie, with flaky delicious crusts and fillings. The Peanut Butter and Jam cookie was excellent! We also tried the Persian Love Cake and the Blueberry Buckle, which were both also delicious. The owners were very pleasant and clearly take pride in their craft. Plus, it's only a ten minute drive to the airport!

I used to love freewheelin’! I’ve been going ever since they opened the airstream at their OG location a couple of years ago, all the baristas were so nice, it was quick and overall consistently great drinks. But ever since they moved across the street into a new truck, it hasn’t been the same. The past couple times i’ve gone it’s been disappointing, the drink quality has gone down, they almost taste watered down, the baristas are rude, and the wait has been longer. I kept going despite all this because they’re my favorite but after what happened the last time I will never be going back. The barista who took my order was rude and apathetic, I waited more than 10 mins for my drink, and then the barista didn’t call my name out initially— I saw a latte sitting on the ledge of the truck and assumed it was someone else’s, but then she started calling out my name (Teresa), but it sounded like she was trying to pronounce “terrorist” she kept saying “terro… terris… terist” until I caught on that she was actually trying to say my name (which is not hard to pronounce), I rushed up to grab my latte just so she would stop yelling “terrorist” in public — SO EMBARRASSING. I ran away feeling humiliated and of course my drink tasted watered down. Absolutely ridiculous, I will never be going back to freewheelin’,...

This place adds a 20% gratuity on orders $25 and up — and doesn’t tell you ahead of time

I ordered two iced coffees and two small breakfast sandwiches to go. The total came to $46.50 — which didn’t add up. When I asked for a breakdown, staff explained, “Oh, that’s because of the automatic tip — we add 20% on orders over $25.”

No menu signage, no verbal heads-up, nothing. When I asked if the charge could be adjusted, I was flat-out told no. I canceled half the order as a result. For a counter-service truck selling breakfast sandwiches and coffee, a surprise $8+ gratuity is absurd.

This isn’t just poor customer service — it’s sketchy and potentially illegal, as businesses are generally required to disclose automatic service charges upfront. The coffee was fine, but I won’t be returning. There are plenty of coffee shops in Austin that are transparent and don’t surprise customers with...

I’ve been a freewheelin Coffee enthusiast for 2 years but ever since they switch from the Air Stream location to the new food truck location, I’ve noticed the food and drink quality go down and the prices go up. Past few times I’ve gone, the coffee taste more watered down and OG service is not the same. Today I went for a pumpkin spiced latte w/ cold foam that was $8 (wild price for a latte), but when I got the order there was no cold foam and I asked “wasn’t this supposed to have cold foam” and was told “oh we don’t have it.” I had paid for the full drink (again $8 which is insane) so to hear that they couldn’t make it but charged me for it was not so great to hear. I hope they can make the necessary changes to be better. Love this place and want to continue to recommend it to everyone - but the new location makes it a...
