Having lived in Austin for over 30 years, I figured it was time to try Granny’s for some really good tacos and check out what the hype was all about. We ordered the Rico, Alambre, Abuela & Shrimp tacos. For the amount of food in each taco, they were super overpriced ($5.25-$5.75) per taco. The presentation of the tacos was severely lacking…hardly picture worthy!! Most taco trucks serve up their tacos with amazing sauces…at Granny’s even the sauces were mediocre and didn’t really add any flavor to the already mushy tacos. The rice in the Rico was under cooked and there were only 3 shrimp in the shrimp taco. The avocado in one of the tacos was mushy & smashed. There are too many other places in Austin to enjoy better tacos….will never be back!

We tried a variety of the breakfast tacos, including the Migas, the Ranchero, the Machaca, an egg, sausage, and cheese, a cactus and cheese, and a bean, egg, and cheese. We only waited about 10 minutes to receive our order. The service was great. and the tacos were generously filled! The tortillas were fresh and homemade, and the eggs, meats, avocado, and salsas were all very fresh. Unfortunately, they had run out of the chorizo but I look forward to trying it next time!

A friend recommended this place and said they were still dreaming about the breakfast tacos. I now see why. We got the migas taco, chilequil with mole and 2 tacos with egg chorizo and beans. All of them were incredible. They were huge and had a ton of flavor! Best breakfast taco I have had. Check this place out!

The good: Their breakfast tacos are pretty sizeable & their tortillas are great. There was no crowd & the truck is in good location. Unfortunately, though the wait was a little long due to lots of to-go orders & only one guy working.

The bad: We ordered some scrambled egg breakfast tacos, but I couldn't get back the fact that the scramble had a bunch of carbonized/burnt pieces from the flat top. It made the whole thing just taste bad; plus it's not appetizing to crunch down on carbonized bits. As a breakfast chef in my past, you have to scrap down the plancha more often. There was so much undesired 'blackened' bits in my scrambled eggs that at first glace I just thought they were heavy handed on ground pepper. Honestly, ruined the...

Muy rico picante y salivante!

That sizzling sound of cooking food in the background stirs up your appetite! I indulged in a taco-trio: Alambre con pollo, pimientos y chorizo Campechano con carne Rico con pollo

Their Alambre taco evinced to be my favorite! Made with chorizo and pepper blends, doused by green hot sauce - a harmonious flavor melody!

As their second location, this Granny's Tacos food truck is in the arts district; a convenient walking community where tons of restaurants with outdoor patios embellish this locale. Plenty of covered outdoor seating / picnic tables to devoir your grubbs.

Who says tacos are just for Tuesdays? Get over there before they...
